• As I just posted in another ASL thread they're a waste of time in many cases and have an inherent irritation factor to other road users. I'm sure Surly if everyone joined queues at traffic lights and junctions -assuming it's not gridlock- in the middle and staying there until you've exited they'd be much safer and predictable for all to negoitiate. Thanks to cyclists/motorcylists impatience* you can easily get confused when folk are cutting in front of you from all angles at particular junctions.

    Sorry, I'll start again:

Green Boxes potentially irritate other road users. If I get to the front of a queue in a motorised vehicle then all of a sudden this green box in front of me is filled with all ability riders that DO make my exit from said junction much slower, it's undeniable there will vexation and aggressive risky overtake manouvers from drivers. If cyclists were a little more patient and joined these queues like all the other vehicles; in the middle of the lane and set off in the order that they got there with motorised vehicles, psychologically there'd be less agitation.
Once you've passed the junction (i.e. it's exits and any left or right turning vehicles) then and only then should you be looking at moving back to the left as a slower moving vehicle. Afterall it's not F1, cars rarely get to pull off that quickly anyway. Once they get to speed the road in front will have cleared somewhat.
