Where to stay in london?

Posted on
  • Hello people,

Im thinking about coming down to london (from bristol) for a long weekend with my girl for our 2 years. i want to book a hotel, something like a premier inn will be prime, but what area would be the best to stay in? we will probably want to be quite central so we can do abit of sight seeing and all those cheesy kind of things! i dont know hardly anything about areas in london so help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers, lewis.

  • My advice is either the Mandarin Oriental in Knightsbridge or the Lanesborough. Both are utterly wonderful hotels and the room rates are reasonable.

  • jeasus christ! they are abit out of my budget! £350 a night.. i was thinking of spending £350 for the whole weekend! :P

  • They will park your bike for you.

  • fuck yeah thats sold it!

  • And maybe clean it.

  • Are you bringing your bikes? Depending which weekend it is, look at the upcoming rides and see if there's a bridges ride or a ride north/south/east/west (usually organized by MA3K) or a jaunt to Brighton.

There Premier Inns all over London - book one and take your chance. There's one relatively local to me in Hammersmith.

  • Maybe check out some places on Russell Square? Lot of nice, small hotels and very central...

  • yeah i expect we will bring them, will be staying 11 - 14th of november.

  • which one out of these would most central?

    sorry my knowledge is shite..

  • The one of the map near Oxford Street is the most central

  • try the "secret hotel" deals on last minute.com or elsewhere - my mum did and got a good room in a hotel behind the tate modern (perfect for her as near where I work).

You can get great 4 or 5* hotels reduced, and you can normally figure out which hotel it is or pin it down to about 3 just by googling the blurb they put up about it.

The most central premier inns you've suggested are probably the one above A3200 (that's basically waterloo) and the one by A4 (bang in the west end). Both are walking distance from buckingham palace, westminster (10 - 15 mins each) (and st paul's - c. 30 mins)...

    It really depends

  • That secret hotel malarky is very good. Also try laterooms. I believe there's an app for it. Or try airbnb.

  • You could do a lot worse than staying in a hotel in the SE1 area.
Southwark, London Bridge, Borough, Tower bridge, Waterloo etc, My favourite parts of London with some of the best pubs too :)
    Bermondsey Square Hotel?

  • Bring a tent. Camp on a common.

  • Take loads of speed. Don't sleep. No hotel needed.

  • Thanks for all the suggestions guys!, i have found a pretty cheep travel lodge by the shaftesbury theater on the a40 which ticks all the boxes :)

  • Chaps who I know who come to London from out of town generally stay at their clubs. If you are not a member of a London club, check with your own club to see if they have reciprocals with London clubs. Many do.
