    You need a different tool too. Hardly any bike shops actually have them - trust me I've been down this road. Most wheels you can ride home on with a broken spoke if you have a regular spoke tool to adjust the tension of the other spokes with (which you can buy in any bike shop)

    Thats why you use veloplugs, and not tape. I've tinkered with mine numerous times, and the plugs still sit tight. The tool is pretty standard, and easy to carry. If you have a little saddle bag for a spare tube. Probably not availible at Halfords, and other poor bikeshops I guess.

    So if you cycle around town. Fair enough, the more common nipple type is an advantage. But if you're out of town, surely you carry the appropriate tool for your wheels?
