  • Too many bikes for sale - 1 day auctions - could be fishy?

    Never trusted him. Or Kylie.

  • as if someone stole a fucking tandem. the state of the fucking world today, seriously

I know, perhaps I am looking for two dickheads working together...

  • Hi All,

A lass I work with had her plug stolen over the weekend, from outside the fucking hospital she ended up in after being rear ended by some prick on a bike! (who didn't stop).
So along with two massive black eyes and half a bodies worth of bruising (she fell hard, on the curb) she now has no bike.
It was a relatively standard Plug, dark grey, XS, brown grips and seat. I know chances are slim but if anyone spots one for sale suspiciously cheap it drop me a PM or even text on O seven 8 9 O two 1 two 7 8 9.

Karma, time for you to chip in...

edit: locked with one of those dead good wee kryptonite locks too...

saw one of these down brick lane on sunday. the guy was selling it for £200 and it still had the clipless pedals and a water bottle on it. clearly just been stolen

i'm sure if it was someones on here they would of posted about it. thought i'd mention it anyway

  • ^^^ vaguely remember a willier posted as stolen a few weeks back, can't remember model name or where I saw it, damn my memory!

  • I've had a really good experience with my local police. Please, please report any bike thefts through the appropriate channels.

The DC who has been assigned my crime is going to some lengths to recover any CCTV footage she can and has also distributed photos of the bike (on the basis that it is unusual) around the local police stations. Based on the sighting of my bike after it was stolen, she is looking into the possibility of CCTV at that location. Thanks for the sighting No Sense Needed.

I also received a call from the police when I first reported the theft (online) simply to reassure me that I shouldn't feel guilty that I was drunk when it happened which I thought was a nice touch as I clearly feel like a bit of a dick (rightly so) for the circumstances surrounding the theft.

Her instructions are clear. If you see a bike that you identify as stolen it is fine to call 999. In my case, as the bike is very much not off the peg and I have been able to provide thorough details and photos she explained that they would probably arrest on the spot and return the bike to me asap.

  • I'm glad you found someone to take your case seriously. Most people are not that fortunate!

With all this CCTV around the place, you'd think it would be pretty fucking simple to just bring up some footage of the places where these bikes were stolen then track the thieves to wherever they take the bikes. Doesn't seem to be the case unfortunately.

Good luck getting the bike back. I've got my eye peeled and my d-locks primed.

  • seems to be a rash of saddle-theft in Hackney

  • Could it be this one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/260846575991?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 Was sold on ebay about a month ago. Colour, decals and size seem to match. Hope you have the serial number, I think it could be tracked down. Sent PM in case you don't get to read this.

  • I posted on the "stolen 3rensho" thread but it seems it was moved here. I'm talking about Buffalo Bills 3rensho..

They just asked if they could put the photos I provided in the local newspaper. Probably futile but another gesture of effort.

Thats a coincience. As I was riding back from Cambridge with Laner the other day I developed a saddle rash in Hackney.

  • There are lads down broadway Market right now with sone stolen bikes, I assume, some peugeot conversion with black deep vs, sounds shit but looks like someone's put some care into the build.

I would bet £100 on it being nicked to be honest.

  • I was in Condor cycle late evening yesterday and a bike got stolen FROM the store! The bike wasn't for sale it was of a customer who had parked it in the slots they have just by the stairs. The theif (whos face I think is clear in CCTV footage) came in got the bike and went out!

I hope he finds his bike.
It was surprising to me especially from a store and that too Condor! This is i guess 2nd such incident after LMNH brompton.

  • happens a lot in shops. Read about that a few times happening in Evans stores. Think the only one where customers bikes are actually watched s the one in Mortimer street. But I always lock my bike anyway.

  • ^ this. If you leave your bike unlocked in London expect it to be pinched, regardless of whether it is in a store, a cafe, on the train...anywhere. And I wouldn't expect the bored looking chaps in Mortimer Street to look after my ride if I left it in their stands unlocked.

  • eugh. My sister got her bike stolen that I built for her, then re-built with a new frame after the previous one got bent by some ducking fickhead trying to nick it. nicked from morning lane off mare street in hackney.
Mid/pale blue 50's holdworth frame, 21" I think. dont think it's got any stickers on but does have a headbadge I think.
700c open pro on system ex large flange hub on the front
27" mavic somethingrareashensteeth again on system ex, think has a panaracer gumwall tyre onnit
sweepback raleigh bars with quite a nice vintage stem and cheapie chromed brake levers
    vintage DA single pivot callipers
black saddle, slim, some padding, the one that everyone has, nice leather jobbie.
Eugh, am depressed. Please PM me if by some miracle you see it, not on here that much at the mo. Thanks all.

  • A friend of mine just told me today about someone nicking bike parts from bikes parked outside Tesco's in Hackney.

  • my sisters boyfriends' dutch bike got stolen recently in Peckham. If you see a bright orange dutch bike with 1 white tyre and 1 black tyre let me know.

  • Sorry, not really a fixed-gear bike, but I thought I should post here after having my hub's bike stolen from our back garden while SIX OF OUR NEIGHBOURS JUST WATCHED A MAN THROWING A HEAVY ASS DUTCH BIKE OVER A GARDEN WALL and didn't think to come and tell us/stop him.

    ...

It's a green Velorbis Student Balloon, it was my one-year anniversary present to my husband, and some f**cker jumped into our garden, uncovered it, untangled and unlocked it from 2 other bikes, hoisted it over a high wall, and threw it down the other side and pushed it away. Again, while people looked on and did NOTHING. It looks just like the photo above, and was taken from Kentish Town about a month ago. I've been searching Brick Lane market and bikeshed but no luck yet. It's a pretty distinctive bike, and I hope someone might see it somewhere.

My husband has been reduced to riding my folding neon-turquoise 70's shopper bike with a white seat now...the poor thing.

  • Had my MTB nicked last night.

    Battersea Park Station area.

Cream Giant XTC1 hardtail - black carbon seat and chain stays.
Nobby Nic 2.35 on front, Yellow/Black Panaracer Fire XC Pro 1.8 on rear.
White stubby stem, flat bar, cane creek ergo bar ends.

Otherwise stock. Quite old, but well loved!
    Mostly like this...

Also a bracket for a tagalong kids bike on the seatpost.

    Any sightings appreciated.

  • /attachments/44717Sad morning! My very good pal Bigpaintbrush has had his beloved Paletti road bike taken from his hallway on Queensdown Road near Hackney Downs. Between 8 and 10 last night some selfish prick crowbarred his letter box, reached in, opened the door and took the bike from the rack on the wall. His best build ever and our much loved conduit for weekend rides. I'm gutted - he must be fucked! Still at least some lowlife theiving scum is 50 quid better off this morning eh? Keep your peepers peeled forum! Let us know if you see it.

The stats: Deep Red 62cm Paletti Lightning (columbus aelle tubing). Campag Recors Groupset except Athena seatpost and stem. Criterium Ergo bars. Gipiemme Techno 416 Wheelset. New Selle Flite saddle.

    Underinsured, overloved, missed already!

A picture from happier times of Bigpaintbrush loving his ride:

**I live quite local to the area. If possible can you post a picture of the bikes in question. Will keep my eyes open.

What surprises me there especially is the way the bikes are locked.

  • Cheers Dave. Not the most informative pic added but wheelset etc visible.
