Hurrah! For Ladies What No Longer Lurk! Awesome user name 2wheeledpony. I'm in Tottenham, so fairly local-ish...good aim too. I've heard great things about that ride - maybe a Ladies Road trip in 2013 ; )
Right then: first date to propose Sunday 23rd October, leaving 11-ish, probably head into North Essex countryside with pub lunch enroute?Thank you! My first love is horses, but they're hard to upkeep and too expensive when you live in London so they have been replaced for steel steeds - hence the name :-)
I'm totally up for Sunday 23rd, the other half plays polo on Sundays so its only fair I get to go out and play on my bike I think!
And regarding Vätternrundan 2013 - please do come along!Look forward to finding out more about the rides!

I'm quite loony for 4 legs too, so I think we'll get along!

I think its a shame that more ladies don't go on TricityBendix's Essex Afterworkers. They fit your description quite nicely most of the time.
Yeah, but then they're in Essex. And after work. When I need to eat.
So I am ONE HUNDRED PERCENT FOR THIS IDEA!!

23rd in diary. Where are we starting?
-

Ermm...not totally sure yet...will depend where we ride. Might be all benevolent and go for a central-ish start?

they are rarely in essex. and rosie does not ride slowly...she can usually be found blasting down some major arterial a-road in to kent or surrey...

Yes, I know the Bendix Phenomenon. Not personally, but it is well known.
I should check it out, but it IS misleading, calling it Essex Afterworkers, if they're rarely in Essex. ; )

They were until I moved house! I just haven't got around to changing the thread name to Kesurressex Afterworkers.
They really aren't fast. Am giving up trying to bust that myth though, it has a three year legacy now based on a joke :I

OK. I'm really curious so I'm going to ask. I've been riding in mixed groups, mostly with men actually, and enjoy it very much. I've never tried a ladies only ride and would like to do one at some point so I'm a bit puzzled as to why men feel the need to join a 'ladies' ride when all the others (not just here) are already dominated by them. What is the attraction for the guys exactly? Just wondering.

I would hazard a guess, that Ladies rides are generally a lot more chilled out than some of the male dominated rides and maybe don't seem as intimidating.
That, or they're pervs
-
• #41
nah, they'd only be pervs if they wanted to follow us to the loo too. Do they?

hurrah! Great idea Poots. Am definitely in for this. Good idea too switching between Saturdays and Sundays.
23rd and 5th in the diary. Can I suggest a ride out near Epping Forest for one of them? I've never been and I imagine it should be lovely with all the leaves changing in the next few weeks. (Please correct me if I'm totally mixed up here)
As for the Essex Afterworkers, I'd love to go on them, as getting in mileage mid week would be great, but they leave too early to get all the way across town to the start after work*
*no longer working so might make them now, but Mondays are already taked for Yoga for Cyclists

The same question could be asked about why some guys are always posting in the Ladies forum too.... it's meant to be a forum for the women to "talk" with other women...
maybe they just can't handle giving us our own space?

Fact
I will be up a mountain in Cornwall on the 23rd but 5th sounds good. Happy to lead, I have a vague route database programmed into my brain now.
