DJ- in-line seat post plus a Fizik saddle set right back on its rails should give more than ample layback.
If not, then I'd say your stem is too short.....
You may need to discuss directly with The Bike Whisperer- Scherrit, as talking costs nothing, but you find an answer to your liking after all.
I would like to see a layback version seat post though !

i dont get on with a lot of fizik saddles, plus given that I am a lump it is not really a great idea to set it back all the way on the rails
most seatposts have lay or set back
i would hazard a guess that velocio's bikes do not have inline seatposts.
or i could just get a lynskey or erikssen Ti post which would not be overly stressing the saddle rails - or stick with the thomsons i have on all my bikes anyway

...hmm.... well my take is in-line seat posts are only useful for Track bikes for sprinters, where you need to get the saddle over the bottom bracket to spin
I don't possess and never have had an in-line seat post.
The in-line ones I've seen on road bikes have made the riders crap at hill climbing, as there you do need the layback for the power stroke
There is of course a "horses for courses" rule, but relies on a person knowing the ins & outs of where they want to be.
I saw a racing bike on Saturday with layback post plus the Fizik at the end of its range, and reckon the rider would be having probs with the front wheel lifting off the ground there was so much weight so far back.

From my understanding each cyclist has an optimum BB-to-saddle nose distance. This depends on the length of certain bits (I forget which are most critical but it's not your toes).
I've bee told I need to have my saddle nose about 4cm behind the BB which with some bike/saddle combos an inline post is best.

Femur length is important but so are other measures including flexibility.
But according to velocio and TS the bikes that diablo and I ride don't fit us.

:D
I was naturally sceptical about moving my saddle 25mm up and about 3cm forward (as recommended). It seemed a really radical change but it's been quite a revelation. Moar power!

British Cycling Road Racing and Track endurance rules state you must have your saddle (nose) a minimum of 5cm behind the bottom bracket, otherwise its a disqualification. (It can be measured using a plumb line, but there is a proper gizmo to do it)
The only case that can have different is a "Morph" and that'd need checking.
In most cases the saddle is actaully 5cm behind the bb anyway as its a natural position for most peeps.
In the case of racers its as easy to be compliant on all bikes and then there's no fuss or worry

This is something we have discussed. We would be willing to get something together for a group of 10 or more. Once we have all the names and cash we would have to order direct from the supplier to make the savings. If anyone is up for this send us a message or email direct from the site.
