  • So...
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/felt-tk4130-track-bike-2011/

Aimed squarely at hipster market it seems. Needs a front brake and the person that designed the rims needs shooting.

Still, stick a nearly new wheelset bought from Varno on it and do we have a bargain?
vs the current 2008 Alu Langster?

    Thoughts?

  • Oh please! Wood? Whatever will they think of next?

  • Yep, I'd have to sell them on eBay rather than here I reckon...

    Still, £350...?

  • Phil hubs, wood rims. For the complete Phil Wood hipsteresque look.

  • That Stem is hideous!

  • Nobody has pointed out the skiptooth chainring yet...

So they've pitched it at hipster and made it too obvious and hence gash. But as an alternative to Langster, and with some of the more hideous mistakes removed...

  • How's that work then, does it use a special chain?

  • Nope, normal chain, just only bites every other link

  • Wonder if you use cork brake pads with the fake wooden rims?

  • Wooden think so.

    #gets coat

  • I'm surprised Ash(e) hasn't added this to the list.

  • Is it pun time now?

  • They've just spruced up an existing model, haven't they?

  • You could say that.

  • So, is this better value than a 400 pound Langster Steel?

  • Or a Fuji Classic Track? They are all around the same price.

And yes, I know I should ride them all but there isn't really that possibility with this one as it doesn't Wiggle doesn't actually have a shop front in London, nor does the place selling $360 Fuji Tracks.

I'm interested purely from a component/specifications point of view.

  • That would depend, you need to buy a front brake and change the front wheel to ride it on the road. If you already have a front brake and front wheel to use off another bike then its not a bad deal. Compared to the Langster I think it would come down to your own prefernce. Price wise its a great deal.

  • I don't think it's that bad. But id go for the Alu langster - carbon forks, cxp22 rims, sugino cranks. Seems like a lot more bang for your buck.

  • I bought a alu langster (sigma sport for £399) 5 days ago and a friend has ordered TK4130 2 days ago from wiggle :)

Because my friend is new to fixie world (so am I) he is also selling the wheels to trade for cheaper handbuilt wheels (miche primato + mavic open pro + DT Swiss champion) that have a braking surface. As per the description TK4130 has a drilled fork and frame for brakes but doesent come with brakes and the wheels dont have a braking surface either.

Here's a list of weird parts of bike according to me: stem, chainring (24 tooth), pedals, brooks copy saddle, wooden finish rims

But all in all £350 is a good deal I think. I'd pay £50 more and go for Langster Steel though. (I had the 09 version and it was a sweet ride). Those extra £50 will save you hassle of selling the stock wheels on ebay and buying font and rear calipers and levers.

And I don't regret buying Alu Langster either ;)
PS: I will be selling the stock wheels came with my Langster soon if anyones interested.

  • Imight be interested in the langster wheels if they're a good price.

OH MY FUCK, TREK U CUUUUNTS!!!!

  • I thought it was illegal for a UK shop to sell bikes without any brakes. Maybe there's a loophole whereby if it's labeled a track bike it's ok. Can't imagine anyone would be caught dead at a track with one of those Felts though.

  • found the same stem at tokyo fiixed gear soho

Just incease you wanted to know :P

Loophole or not, it has to be possible to sell without brakes otherwise 'real' track bikes would have to have the brakes taped on (or a front one at least as the rear fixed wheel legally counts as a brake)

  • Yes didn't think that through really did I!

  • hi guys
was a lurker for sometime now.
i'm new to fixies and going to buy tk4130.
so (yes) the question – could anyone suggest me a front wheel and a brake to purchase for this bike?
    thank you
