  • Re: pole material. That 7075 stuff snaps. My stuff bends (hence you can bend it back) lasts for ever. People at the London open were using those Rik things and they were snapping all over the shop

    To be honest, I have no direct experience of Rik's stuff, just assumed it was the same as Perros. My perros are much stronger than anything else I've used. And random 7075 ski poles have been much better than unmarked (presumably lower grade) poles.

    I don't really want one that bends all over the place - I think it helps to get used to where the head is in relation to your hand. Also, weight is key figure. It's no use having something that's twice as strong if it's twice as heavy... There's no way I would want a heavier mallet, and would really like something lighter. My mallets come out at around 250-300g, total, but I'd really like to save weight from the shaft and head (the grip is less relevant in my opinion). A few grams may sound trivial, but when it's on the end of a 90cm pole, it feels a lot heavier.
