Are you being serious Pete? I thought it would only take you 20mins or so to get to SE from yours.
Whats the general consensus?
Michael, you are of course welcome to meet us en route...

I got ants in my pants thinking about weather like today on Saturday.
Fox, if you bail and it's like this on Saturday you'll be kicking yourself....
-
• #104
By leaving at 8 we will have lovely quiet roads out of town and can afford to take it slightly easier thus not dehydrating ourselves. Thats my thinking anyway.

Busted ;)
Still, it was better than the usual "I'm out...
...of clean sheets!"
etc. When have I ever bailed on ride? Apart from when I was ill last weekend of course. Cough.

You'd have to get up pretty early in the morning to catch me out. Well, before 11am nowdays.

alright, i am gravely concerned about the hilliness of this ride - i did only herne bay/margate and clacton w/ Ma3K and it was fine. but i do not want to be holding people back if i fail to climb well enough on this ride (SS @ 42/16 ≅ 69gi).
in the light of this i am even considering defecting to the ladies' brighton ride.
DEFECT! There are only two major hills of note and I'll certainly be walking up them. It'll be a prettier view on this ride. I'm talking about the view from the top of Ditchling, obvs.
Hmm, I just noticed this is an 8am start from south London. That kinda means quite a lot of effort if one is coming from north London, I think I'm now tentative.
Sedate roll to the seaside with a bunch of hot girls on bike leaving at 9.30am?

Poots, are you trying to make me cancel this ride?! Not fair!
-
• #109
Sorry : (
Boys! Stay with the Stonehedge! He may not be wearing a skirt but he's got a Garmin.
-

I will PM everybody my mobile number last thing tonight just so that you can keep in touch...wouldn't want to leave anybody behind if they are going to turn up at 0802. Please do try to be prompt though.

Whilst I've been throwing off these snigger- inducing gems, I've been garminating the route. Just so you know we'll have one back-up.
My Garmin was nicked off my bike yesterday, so no backup! I've ridden this route but don't know it well enough to recall. I won't have any opportunity to make a crib sheet before tomorrow.
Can anyone loan me a Garmin? -
• #117
yo john i can lend you my 800.
it's in the city with me know.
needs a charge but you can loan it for the weekend.
i'd love to say it has the route on ready to go but sadly not.
i'm in the office until five but can't really get out save to run it out.
does this help?
-
• #118
If you cant sort something out John I'm sure we will be fine...I've never been let down by my 800. I'm just a belt and braces kind of chap thats all.
-
• #119
the 800 has never failed me and i probably don't really know how to use it.
it got us to the stones in the dark, daytime use is dead easy.
-
• #120
Early starts ftw
-
• #121
That's brilliant, Steve.
I leae work at 7.00 and can go anywhere central from there to pick-up.
Will have to arrange by txt. I'm PMing you my mobile. -
• #122
shite john.
forgot to say i'm out of work at five and then heading outta town.
seven won't work i'm afraid.
apologies.
-
• #123
Don't worry about it Steve/John...we'll be fine.
-
• #124
will have a look for a crib sheet on my laptop when i get home.
that's how i got down last time.
if i find it i'll post it here.

• #125
^ No worries then, Skive and^^ yes, StonehedgeI'm sure your 800 will be fine.
In other news, it looks as though Fox is the oe who will be spending his Saturday sipping latte in Stokey!
If he doesn't defect to the Laddies BRight-on ride, that is! (tempting though this is).
And just realised this ride goes virtually past my house, very tempted to do this now...
