If you are owed a total of at least £750 (last time I looked) you can make him bankrupt but you will need a ccj first.
I did that to someone once and they paid up at once plus interest.

Bump, any progress for anyone?

yes- I'm dealing with Hillingdon Police - I need to give them the thread, my bank statement, and the Facebook/fish tank ad/Bike Rescue details and its in a go position- it's already with them verbally on the evidence already given, but I need to back it up.
As far as Plod is concerned its a dead cert on conviction.
I did ask Plod about what best to do as others were in a similar predicament- his advice was log it with the crime desk 0300 123 1212 and it'll go to your local Plod to deal- he didn't want to get others Borough's tangled with his case.
Saying that if others advise me what they've paid and what for and where based I can pass that on and see if he bites? A bigger, better case ?

BikeRescue are really up against it at the mo, as the other direcxtor was rushed into hospital last week, so i havent hassled Mick about it. Thanks for the reminder El Diablo. Of course the cops will be able to pop in there and bet the address as well.

I had a shock seeing this come up again- yes I got the goods less a chain, and less the apology he advised he'd give to me via nice Mr Plod.
I know he "left" the shop he was working at, and I did expalin my case to the owner there.
I logged the case on the crime desk, and provided the evidence plus all the kind help I got from Velocio/Hippy/et all. Mr Plod advised it was taking money under false pretences, caught up with him and whispered in his shell like.
He said it was a mix up and his girlfriend hadn't sent the stuff ..
I have no doubt he's lurking somewhere and still causing havoc- easily recogniseable in the York area by his large scar.
I don't hold grudges and name call normally, but in this case I do make an exception - *CUNT, repeated to infinity and beyond !*

Good you got your goods, its so long ago I can't even remember what I paid out, might have a trawl back through my paypal to see.
I do hold grudges and wouldn't cross the street to piss on him to put out the fire that was killing him.

wow... thats a crazy story, learnt a few lessons

the efforts from within the commmunity were heartening- Hippy/Velocio/the guy who'd set up the shop etc, but the astounding fact was a Ms Plod who listened to my story and pronounced the arsehole a fraud in as much as he was guilty of false deception straight off. then Mr CID Plod was very pleasant and persistent and got the matter sorted. Ya man will have record even if if only notes of what I had to reclaim.
The best advice I can honestly give is if you buy £300 + worth of goods, do it through Pay Pal (costs a couple of quid more but the protection is worth it) to be able to recliam it, the Bank transfer was as loose as my ass after after a curry and beer night out, just not robust enough really at all, and wrongly advised on it being robust by the bank too.

Oh FEK- this thread gi=ves me nightmares
In my case I went to the Police as it was deception, not sure i is in your case, however, I'd take the time to acquaint Mr Plod with what's gone on as there may be an interest. At the very least they'll give the straight answer on what to do, where to go.
Beyond there - is the frame repairable? You could take the cost of that off the £450 - with a receipted estimate of course.
The ideal circumstance for you is to return the frame to the arsehole and get your money back- is is faulty after all, however, as its a private saleand caveat emptor - buyer beware, you may be lumbered.
I'd stick out not paying the rest of the money and let him go legal- I don't think a Paralegal would be interested when he/she finds out the catastrophic fault.

it was a complete bike however swapped changed bits over the year as im fussy so have nothing but the snapped frame left... its cracked about an inch away from the headstock on the toptube. he wont meet me to take the frame back and will only take money into his dads bank account as he doesnt have his own.. nor paypal... bizzarre for someone who sells or sold so much stuff!??
-
• #141
but you're both in York? Just go find him.
-
• #142
just found this too...
he doesnt live in york hes from scarborough what do i do even if i did find him??
-
• #143
not quite- one in York, one in Scarborough and one threatening- you guessed the arsehole one !
Firm advice is go to the Police with everything and have it logged.
Remember this guy is one nasty piece of sh..

• #144
your not wrong there el! ill let u know how i get on
-
• #145
By go and find him I meant work out what connections you have, there is bound to be a friend of a friend who knows him, and send a message along that way that he is a scum bag. If he's in scarborough then it won't wok though.
-
• #146
Oooh, it looks from his website that he's got bikes for sale. Tempted?
-
• #147
um thinking you need to a) do a legal research as I said b) start chasing him down for a refund- what he's using is "attack is the best form of defence" as a bullying tactic.
You've been sold a dangerous bike- you want your money back for the frame, and you wan it now.
I don't think he'd like the law on his tail again if you can get to that point.
Re bad publicity- you have the bad publicity to show of what he sold you. As to making you leave where you work through "alleged bad publicity" - only your boss can make that happen and is not going to as he witnessed the sale and what was said about the "crease"in the tube.
You need to be strong and fight him- he may have been a mate but he's shit on you and is now bullying you.
Thanks Andy, that's cleared that part up nicely but now its down to business.
I intend to check with Parcel2go to see if goods were indeed shipped to my address on the day quoted- or he was just having me on.
I've walked past the Plod station twice now, and not committed myslef to engaging that part yet, but may do that as well tomorrow- work will be a bit lighter for me.
