2:14 what was green guy thinking?!
    3:13 NICE goal!
    4:50 -.-
    13:10 ouch

  • just noticed that two of the guys on canucks are playing with sweeper mallets

  • Yeh that's why Aus have them. I figured East Van invented them and since Damon and Leigh started playing there, they brought back the design to Aus.

    Commonwealth networks.

  • also a lack of face cages...

makes sense. although damon's is probably twice the length of the EV version

  • Prob. There's even a European Cheater Australian Sweeper Fusion mallet that I've seen in Melb. Used by a lefty. Ban him!!!

  • So good to see ponies take down beaver boys, who appeared to be playing like dicks on several occasions in that vid.

  • Too many dick moves, fouls and slams. Are they really Highlights?

If I didn't play polo, that video wouldn't make me want to start.

  • ^ This... That L'Equipe game near the start was particularly gruesome... Meh, that isn't why I started playing polo...

  • Yeah, I couldn't believe how many knarly crashes were in that vid...i've had a few in my time (most self inflicted) but a lot of these looked like the result of just wreckless play. Still, made for an entertaining watch...also good to see a highlights vid showing lots of goals - although with the size of those goals hard not to score!

  • Maybe it's just lame players trying to get involved in the fast-pace games of the earlier rounds (uneven match ups)? Later on it seemed to be more bikes getting tangled up during blocks/screens and balls under wheels, etc?

If the camera was always rolling then it's not that many crashes over the entire tourney (Berlin was pretty gnarly at times), really felt for Manu and Greg at times, it looked like they had a couple of "bad" games!

  • Manu is badass.

  • If the camera was rolling the entire time, surely they would have had a few more inspiring moments to show rather than just bails/dick moves.

  • Everyone loves a good crash though...

    • although with the size of those goals hard not to score!

Pretty sure they were 180 (same width as ours) just taller.

  • guys guys, we shouldn't generalise too much in here, or have opinions, cos we weren't there, or in the top 64 (apart from MAX).

  • In my view the level of physicality/dick move-ing at the worlds wasn't greater than what we get on european tournaments.
What was nice, to be perfectly honest, was to see games NOT stopped by over-zealous refs to chastise players. People got sent in the box a few times, when it was really justified, and everyone was fine with it. But had Bill been on the referee seat, games would have been halted over and over again, which IMO isn't necessarily better.

  • Any ref that doesn't stop time (and the game) to pull out a player is doing it wrong (and won't be aware of any advantages, or the game in the background, or the re-entry time of the penalised player, they also ensure professional fouling is a legitimate tactic).

30-second penalty: This penalty will follow verbal warnings or will be used to penalize players for a more serious first-time rule violation. When the referee observes an infraction, they will whistle, stop time and call for the offending player to exit the court. The timekeeper will declare when they can re-enter the game. The resulting game play will be 3 on 2 for a full 30 seconds unless the innocent team scores during the power play. At this time, the penalized player may re-enter the court.

  • I only noticed Bill intervene once at Bristol and there were some pretty physical games...

  • He did it twice, but one of those times he did it in beagles accent

  • ^ This... That L'Equipe game near the start was particularly gruesome... Meh, that isn't why I started playing polo...

When did you start playing polo?

  • knarly

    Kood word.

    Oh shit.
