artwork is all fine and dandy, but a quick flick through the store doesn't tell me what the frame is, what tubing? who built it? Built over in the far east or by an old craftsman over here in blighty?
I'd like to know that information first as I'm going to be riding the thing (if I bought one, which I'm not) rather than the background of the artist who came up with the colour scheme.Not trying to be arsey, and if the website contains the information and I've overlooked it then I'll amend in due course, but you buy the bike for how it rides as well as how it looks, and right now its more about how they look than how they ride...

Agreed, I think it's quite an oversight of the website to not mention the manufacturer. It says Columbus tubing, so that's something. I don't know if they're a new manufacturer or if they're just some OTP frames that have been sprayed up.
I'll try to do some digging...

Frames designed and built (or at least on behalf of) Luma.

It does say this:
All LUMA BESPOKE: steel frames are built by the frame building legend, Jan Kole ‘Steel Man’. The Steel Art Collection is 100% hand-built with Columbus Zona tubing, and the design on the frames is 100% protected with coating applied on top of the graphic that stays permanent.

Its hardly "bespoke" if you click "add to cart" to get one.

I kinda like them. But I don't like the lack of logos. It makes them look *too *custom... if that makes any sense.

*This collection is an extension of personal style and a fashion statement. Each Steel Art frame has its own style and character that can reflect its owner's unique personal identity. Blending the stylish design with excellent quality and performance, the Steel Art Collection is perfect for the urban environment!
*just ordered mine but i seemed to have wet myself with excitement. i'm also doing that jumpy up and down thing waving my hands in a clapping motion (without the hands making contact) whilst repeating the mantra "oh my god" several times.

These are built in Shenzhen China, by Colossi (Jan Cole). I've also been to their store in HK. Basically Luma mark up the same frame by 2x. Colossi actually build a lot of the italian frames now - cinelli, pinarello etc.
Mixed reviews about Colossi - some people I know who have them have had quality issues. But he quoted me £750 for a full Columbus stainless steel custom frame - it was tempting!

I do like the McFaul one;
He's got a shirt design on Milltag too. I guess they'll always have the issue of not being an 'established' brand, and the more cynical rider would say they were trying to cash in, but if that was the case, they'd just be painting up some Creates. I like. -

Do petrol heads get this shite?
Cars built to an outdated design with bukkake paint jobs. Being sold at the same price point as modern, better functioning cars. I'm sure they're fine. But is is kinda like going into PC world, turning down the dual core processor PC, and asking for a commadore C64 with a funky paint job instead.
A friend of mine was recently commissioned to create a custom paint-job for a frame, along with a host of other artists. These frames are now available to buy here; http://store.luma-bespoke.com/
Not sure if some of the designs are a little too hipster for some, but they're at the very least individual. Enjoy
