  • Great performance from Team GB, a bit high-risk though as it boiled down to Cav not actually needing a train.....definitely the strongest team today though, they all deserve the jersey.

  • I noticed that some riders named were deliberatey painted in the non -traditional direction to catch the TV camera angle?

I thought the same, but most shots that allow you to see the names are from a helicopter. If anything the chopper would follow the direction of the riders.

  • yep well done gb and cav. top work

  • Skinsuit and an aero helmet cover = marginal gains. Or something

  • This Cavendish chap looks like a good prospect.

  • He's a bit fat for this cycling malarkey isn't he?

  • And too hairy.

  • Get in.

  • That was fantastic :)

  • just got in...
Anyone got a link to highlights yet..?

  • Impressive riding from team GB and a good finish by Cav.
Insane acceleration by Griepel and mental attacks by Italians were good to watch.
Shame about Fast Phil not having a go.

  • Cancellera top 3/4 in TT and road = monster

  • Skinsuit and an aero helmet cover = marginal gains. Or something

I think Cancellera needs a word in his ear about marginal gains - not sprinting on the hoods for a start. The 4th cat chipper ;)

Well chuffed for Cav and GB, nearly inspiring me to race again next year

  • Riding on the hoods is marginally more aerodynamic I've heard. Drops are for when you're in the thick of it and have to really hang on. Since he's not a sprinter and was over on his lonesome, hoods should be fine. #neverseemedoingthatthough

  • Anyone got a link to the highlights?

  • Go on Evans!

  • only just watched highlights on eurosport..
well done Team GB, so much talent and discipline, germans and aussies also looked very organised, the breakaways and splits were exciting too..
seeing jonny hoogerland making that jump to the lead group i suspect alot of fans were out of their seats like me cheering at the TV..

breathtaking sprint with cav, goss and griepel in the mix, epic stuff..
Perfect prep for more magic at the Olympic RR methinks, I hope it matches today for sheer spectacle :)

  • Go on Evans!

    Oops.

  • Great race. Awesome result.
    Cling-filmed helmet was a nice touch ; )

  • Had it recorded, just watched it. Fucking amazing.

  • won £80 on a £15 stake. he fucking smashed it.

    Cancellara has no sprint.

He's like a rocket, he needs a lot of time to accelerate otherwise he must rely on adverse conditions like cobbles or a stiff Flandrian climb. He can make a split in the peleton by gradually turning up the speed to a level where no-one can hang on, then maintaining it enough to get away, but he cannot do what Cav does. His main tactic for escaping from the pack is to turn on the gas while he is mid-bunch, accelerate away down one side of the group and keep up the massive power until he is free.

Considering his natural talents he did an incredible job today.

He stayed aero, piled on the pressure, but failed.

Because Cav is a rainbow striped Northern Jesus.
