I still carry tools etc but if you flat etc you can just fold it up and deal with it later. I don't bring a lock as you can fold it up and take it with you.
Taking the small messenger bag with just a jacket and multitool in the morning.
Yeh turn the rollers round, makes all the difference.
I will flip em over tomorrow
... slime tubes
I didn't know you could get them in 'Brompton' size, hmmm.

I'm after a really simple and cheap wireless computer which I can mount on the Brompton. I just want to see speed and time, don't care about anything else. But it has to be fold capable, I tried my Cateye Velo and the mount isn't fold friendly, plus since it is removable I can see it coming unclipped.
I could go wired since they are a little more permanent. Was thinking maybe the Aldi one. Any other recommendations?

As much as I disliked Trek, their round computer work pretty well with the Brompton, it's removable without mount, making it fold friendly (also made of rubber).

i managed to get a 55t on ebay and chucked it on some old busted tunes i had - turns out the Q factor on the tunes is wider than the stronglight cranks so my heels have even less chance of catching + they feel a crap load stiffer which isn't something i thought i would notice at all... i've also just got a 56t ta ring on ebay so am going to switch to 175 crank arms with i can find some cyclotourists

Looks great.
Really wish I went for the raw laquer...
-
• #383
The raw does look ace, I still don't get why it costs more than the paint job.
My plan is that in a few years I will blast my frame and go raw.

How come you have a dual brake lever?

just a guess, but they have to do a neater brazing job so it takes a bit more labour time to make the raw laquer frames?

I think it was due to bits being missed and rust starting. with the raw laquer it's a bugger to tell where it's been done already

Love how this became the brompton owners thread :)

I didn't know you could get them (slime tubes) in 'Brompton' size, hmmm.
They're brand called Trax.
Get shit forum review on a bike radar thread, only info I could find. Second layer protection for me, as Marathons should keep alot of crap out. Unless they'll cancel each other out?

custom, flat bar (remember with the flat bar option, the stem is slightly longer than the riser/butterfly one).

I attempted to attach powergrips to my pedals yesterday with various drill and tool attachments and failed miserably, however I have been thinking about the MKS quick release pedals for a while and after reading quite a lot of good reviews have just ordered them. I have a pair of restraps which I prefer anyway because of the adjustability, so at the moment have swapped out the right hand pedal for an MKS one I had in the box and put the restrap on that.
I also bought an Aber Hallo stem recently to give me a bit more height/reach - it also makes it easy to change bars as its front loading. I was going to pair it with some Thorn Comfort Risers, but I need to get some longer cables, so have just got the regular flat bar on at the moment -already much more comfortable. Will post a pic once I have the pedals sorted.

HB, I would personally drop the third gear, for the weight I don't think its worth it - 2 speed is fine.
Also if you're making up money, get a front carrier block and frame, extremely useful - you dont have to buy a bag necessarily but you can strap a lot of bags to it. Mine gets a lot of use. -

I was going for the ss, but then I realised that my gf wouldn't be able to really use it if i did that so I reckon the 3spd would be a good compromise (and I'm picking gearing that'll give me a similiar GI to the SS GI I would have chose so i'll mostly just ride it in that gear anyways).
What flavour?
Unicorn sweat.

Mine gets a lot of use.The 3rd gear does add a lot of weight but I think it'll last longer than the 2spd if tim's is anything to go by and the 2 lower gears are more for emma's benefit and I'm sure on the few hills she has to go up near her place she will use the lowest gear a fair bit.
And I will get the carrier block and frame eventually but I figure it can wait as they cost the same buying them now as they will further down the line and I don't have a suitable bag to strap onto it yet. for now I need the fibre flare for my fixed build I'm finishing at the moment and the new lock is so I have something with a long enough shackle to anchor the brompton to something when I can't keep an eye on it at all times to stop it going walkies which is a more pressing concern than more luggage for me(given I have a fakie bag anyways).

hang on are you girliefying the gearing? hmmm

I was going to ask about that. Since no one has mentioned luggage on this thread.
I don't want to buy a Brompton specific bag. I was after a pannier or bag which I can strap to the carrier frame using pannier clips/hooks. I have seen a hack somewhere that adapts the carrier frame to do this, which I can't find now, typical.
At the moment I'm getting by with my little messenger bag, since I'm not carrying a lock around. But what are other people doing luggage wise?
Autumns roads are firmly here so for the Brompton I'm moving to slime tubes and new Marathons... had a big thorn thru a slightly worn Marathon couple of days back. Rear wheel repairs are a pain in the arse no matter how much practice one has had (lots here) - always the muckiest job too.
