very interested in the gazelle, but worried it may be a tad small.
Does anyone know if its common it is to see rack mounts on gazelle A frame? Have had my eye out for a gazelle with eyelets and rack mounts for a while.
tried a search for the 'Piet De Wit' name but returned nothing relevant.Edit: provisional dibs

It's like an 80's bike shop in here!
Please note that the Swinnerton looks mighty sweet in the picture above but it is tatty, please be sure to check the PB link to view all the pictures before making your decision. Same for the others.
Another note worthy point on the lo-pro is the internally routed gear cables on the downtube.
Lester I will double check the size as per your pm. Personally I've not seen an A frame with rack mounts before but read on:
Dutch Cheese gave me the following information on a previous 'model piet de wit'
"Piet de Wit is a former world champion motor paced. Very, very nice guy.
After his carreer, he started a nice bike shop in Wormer.
Het always got a special treatment from Gazelle: he had his own top tube decals: "model de Wit". Besides the decals, the frames were standard, same as all others.
After he sold the shop to Martin Slagt, he started working for the dutch national track team (co-ordinator, chef d'équipe and something like that)."Perhaps he had the mounts added for a customer? Or I know that a lot of Gazelle frames were refurbed by Gazelle themselves perhaps they were added then??

The Gazelle will take 28c tyres but I don't think you're going to slip mudguards in there too, maybe 25c with guards and 23c with guards should be fine. Difficult to say for sure as I don't have any guards to try...

I think ideally id want 28s + mudguards, and given my reservations about the sizing, I'll pass on the Gazelle.
If anyone else fancies it go ahead. -

I'm interested in the Swinnerton although not entirely sure if it'll be a good fit for me. I'm about 5'8". What do you think?
-
• #17
I'd say that it will be a little too large. Reckon you'd want about a 54cm'ish.
-
• #18
I feared as much. It's a lovely looking frame.

Gazelle, provisional Dibs!
All Sold
Got four frames up for grabs. All are fine quality of course. Size are all ct x cc. Add £10 on the price for postage or collect from Kent ME12:
Rear spacing 126mm
Tatty paint, even looks to have had paint brushed on in some places as a touch up. But personally I'd keep it as it is rather than respray.
Lovely build with neat seat cluster, nicely cut lugs (lined) and Campag ends.
£100

SOLD - SOLD - SOLD
Rear spacing 130mm
Lovely green and grey paint with just a few blemishes namely on the seat stays below the rack bosses and a chip either side of the seat tube (all pictured).
Nice long wheelbase with very long horizontal drops and mudguards eyes plus rack bosses. This will make a great winter bike.
£120 - SOLD

Great quality frameset made from Columbus SP tubing which I believe was developed for the taller rider. Just a stunning frame with a few minor blemishes.
The equally superb Stronglight Delta headset is included (works beautifully but has minor wear to spanner surface) .
**£135 - SOLD **

Wow what a stunner! Quite a special looking frame with just a few minor blemishes. Worth noting that the headlugs have lines in the paint which I would normally associate with a crash however there is no evidence of this and the frame is perfect, I was also assured it's never been crashed.
Other than it being a stunning lo-pro I'd like to highlight the shaped seat tube allowing the back wheel to sit very tight. Lovely. Semi horizontal drops so you may get away with a fixed conversion...
Top half of a Dura Ace headset and bottom half unknown also included.
£160 - SOLD
