it was side on, a kid literally rode straight through his front wheel. I saw the bike yesterday, the frame is fine, but as you said, they're so cheap it might be worth him getting a new one anyway!

  • If it's the forks, what you want to look for/at is the angle of the head tube and any bulges near the joins of the downtube to the headtube.

    like this for eg:

...the front wheel is now too close to the downtube.

  • no longer riding my old pug, have a shim+seatpost if anyone needs one - £20 posted. Gonna post a bunch of stuff on classifieds but thought that was one thing you guys might be interested in

  • looks great

  • Just noticed this thread, thought I'd throw up a few pics of my Pug. A very enjoyable everyday hack..

  • Shamal & Carbolite. BIG LOOK.

I'm putting a carbon fork on my pug Triathlon this week. Whatever next!

  • Here's my puggy dog! There's something about the french bikes.

  • tape?

I got around and put some tape on.

  • what tires are they weiner? your bike really makes me want a peugeot haha

  • vredestein fortezza, I believe...?

  • BTW here's my conversion.

what crank are you rolling with?

  • Dura Ace I reckons. Sorry for answering the questions people are posing to you Wiener! Not sure i'm right though..

  • You got the tyres right.

The crankset it's just the BLB superpista, nothing special but they look nice and are very light.

  • They do look very vintage and pretty. Beautiful Pug by the by.

    Made by Andel, I'll warrant.
Much cheaper through Hilary - not in black though.

  • ^EXCELLENT link. Deals with all the things i had (and failed) to deal with.

Thinking of doing the same. What forks you looking at?

  • well after posting here many months ago i'm finally rolling fixed.

    here she is....

i ran in to all the pug nightmares....

    • bb was non english so ended up getting it re threaded.
    • seat post is dodgey. it is a thin one. someone at some point just cut a slit vertically up the post and squeezed it to make it fit. i've not changed it yet so plan on not putting on any weight!
    • chain ring bolts were an odd size so a right pig to get the cranks off
    • wheels were 27 1/4 so had to gets some newies
    • front fork spacing was too narrow so had to squeeze to fit

all that said, she's a great ride and really comfortable. did a 50 mile blast on her on saturday and barely felt it.

  • I've just started converting a Premier and other than my initial booboo of not have a stem with a 25.4mm clamp, I'm suddenly terrified that a 1" stem wont fit.

Any way, porteur bars with inverse levers at the ready for when the new stem arrives.

  • Re: page 15, I think you'd have to be mental to put a Shamal on a gas pipe Peugeot. Sell the wheel and get a Peugeot 653 or 753 frame.
