You're right, I should have. I managed to get my hands on some period alloy tub rims but they were never going to make a good set of wheels.
In the end some amazing quality dunlop stainless steel rims came my way. The other bonus is they're that bit bigger to help reduce the clearance.
I think I'll go down the hairdryer route.
