Anyway. I've got this volume cutter to make into a polo bike, but of course it doesn't have v-brake mounts. I'd prefer running v-brakes, so do you guys recommend clamp on jobbies or should I just get some mounts welded on?

ESB forks with mounts on already?

I meant for the rear :) should have put that, really

S.Ted, Ryan, Max can all help you out with that.

I took my Cutter to my friendly local framebuilder, and try as we might, we couldn't find a suitable way of brazing on bosses. Seems that the back end's too narrow. Looks like a clamp-on plate is the answer. -

Ah, nice one Chris, cheers. Did you get clamp-ons? And if so, from where did you buy them?

Haven't yet. Not sure if I'll go down that route, or run a caliper on the back with a travel agent for the V-brake on the front...

Not even with different bosses?
For instance on my 729 I brazed the round ones with the small hole and are fine, with the other ones instead v-brakes were too close to the wheel.

My chain keeps slipping off my spaced road gear, slightly bricking going down the OKR this am.
Are there thicker / decent sprockets around that could help with this? Might be able to space it in a bit to help with the chain line, which I'm assuming is the problem.

Are you using a sprocket from an old cassette, with the ramps to aid gear change? if so, ditch it and get an SS cog.
-
• #6664
Yeah it's ramped. Didn't know you could get ss cogs for cassettes! Awesome. Thank you Seal.
EDIT: Anyone know any shop in London that sells them?
-
• #6665
Hey "Seal", what chainring / sprocket you have on your alfine setup?
-
• #6666
Yes, you can get them, and also, esp for the polo cog, try to get a surly one (they aren't cheap) that have a wider 'foot' to spread the load on the cassette body, otherwise, they dig in a fuck up the body.

That'll be what that 'CLUNK' noise is on the court. Nice one G.

I can sometimes feel my cranks slip a tooth... What's that then?
My chainline was out ages ago so I swapped my 115mm BB for a 118mm but it still happens every now and then... Any ideas?

I found long pull promax levers on eBay and bought their last two (from china), I can find their details if you want though? Unbranded version but is obviously from a similar/the same factory? They cost ~£25?
Oops missed your reply mate, if you could post the link it would be awesome.

I like the fact we are talking about the exact same thing at the same time on 2 threads... I might go mad by the end of this.
I was busy when I talked to you...
