  • you said they you mean you

  • Oh scoble works there?

You then, but he might not be the person serving me, so maybe they too.

  • Yes I too work there.

I doubt the person who'll be serving you will get arsey, moreover they'll likely to sympathise to your plight.

  • tbh no one is going to be bothered just have it ready on your phone, so you're not standing at the till wasting time

  • Fair. Don't want to look like a woman rummaging for her oyster in the dark oceans of her bag standing in the gate.

  • They do still price match, but only against selected online stores. I tried to get a price match a couple of weeks ago and the online store I was matching against was not on the list so they declined to match the price.

I expect Mr Scoble will be sent for retraining shortly, given his lack of knowledge of his own employer's policies.

  • I tend to go into the shop with a printout and get the price. The times I've sent things for clarification by email, I've generally lost out. Then taken the printout to a store and got the price.

i.e. Evans employees in the shops appear to want to stick it to their boss.

  • They sometimes offer the alternative price including the postage you would have incurred as their price match.

In these instances I have taken a print into the shop and got it without the postage cost included.

  • Having it on your iPhone is good. Make sure it is in stock by going to the checkout page and make sure there is no P&P as they will charge that. For most bits then a price match with SJS, Winstanleys,CRC is good enough.

When i bought a Fuji track a couple of years ago i got it delivered to the local evans for a test ride then when i got to the checkout the guy got really upset with me asking for the price match as it "was basically cost price". I totally stuck it to the man that day, man.

  • Went into mortimer St. store. Deal with a black chap with a beard, called duda, iirc, was proper sound with price match, forgot to load the sites so had to go back upstairs to get signal to load.

Farnham cycles wasn't on the list but they did it fine. Krypto mini @ £28

    Top experience.

  • big up the staffer in waterloo evans (station side) who was super friendly and quickly sold me new pedals when one of mine blew up at 8am last thursday

  • The Evans price match 'promise' now comes with provisos tho'

Although Alpinebikes is in the list ?

Gonna go for a mini evolution right now with my price match. Hope it works, if not I'll buy somewhere else

Aye, strange one. Perhaps that's a retrospective manoeuvre because I don't think it was on the list originally? Not too fussed I bought elsewhere. I must say though, I enjoyed the convenience of the earlier policy, matching without quibble if you could prove the price elsewhere.

    Ho hey.

It's a pity their new policy doesn't cover proofreading.

  • Cocky asshole in the spitalfields shop today. Single-handedly lost my custom.

  • reminds me of the cheeky little monkey in the fitzrovia branch who said a certain make of mudguard was 'popular with you people'

    still, it was good advice.

  • it's varies on the branches, some will be more relaxed, some will be stricter, varies on the managers actually.

  • Went to the clapham one before it closes, got my price matching without using all the resources I was ready to throw on the counter (website on phone, screenshot, print and printed conditions on evanscycles. Good and friendly service too. Happy with my mini evo :)

  • I saw lfgss' Robert Loverboy trying to convince someone with a single speed one brake to buy another break. Instead the genius hipster bought a new saddle and a cable lock.

Staff can only try so hard.

  • so evans won't price match on anything from amazon? pfff - shite shop anyway.

  • ^ interesting - seems they don't do PM'ing with amazon anymore. maybe i'll take a wander down there and try my luck.

  • cyclesurg angel pentonville rd - 3 out of 4 times spoke to a nice, young chap, which was extremely informative and keen to help.
last time had to deal with an arrogant and just plain rude bitter man, who lost me for this branch.
lbs chapel market for me I guess >>

  • Hi

I just got an Email from Evans inviting me to go on an organised ride to Biggin Hill, try on some Gore gloves (and then give them back) and eat some SIS energy products on the 12th and 13th November and pay Evans Cycles £12.50 for the privilige.

I've decided to advance on this and am offering people the opportunity to go on a chaotic mis-handled screamer of a ride down the South Circular any monday morning they choose, for only £5 (pm me for my soon tro be swollen paypal account details).
Included in the price will be a complete lack of regard, the thrill of Trucks and busses careening through RED lights, learning how to weave through countless nodders and ridgeback riders plus the added bonus of a stop outside Wandsworth Town Hall where participants will be invited to play frogger with the traffic.

For an added £2.50 I'll make some obscene hand gestures at you with my De marchi gloves (in the hope that I can eventually stretch to buying their bib-shorts)

(By the way, apologies to those of you who work for Evans, but hey, Capitalism is alive and well and about to freewheel over the tents of St Pauls).
