  • Or just a f@cking read of this same thread!!....Ffs.

  • Of course he sand-blasts!!!!

  • does he sandblast the frame aswell?

cranking > £65 includes the wetspray and a clear coat?

quite impressed with this paint job...

£65 all in including sandblasting. Speak to Mario. He's very helpful.

    thanks.

  • I'm wondering about getting him to respray my 1956 Flying Scot. The frame has a few minor dings on the seatstays. Would he fill these in before spraying? Also do you have to have all the paint removed from your frame before you send it to him? Is there a link to his prices and does he have an email address?

I had a frame powder coated once and never again, the lugs are all filled in with paint and it generally looks crap. OK for an old mountainbike but I'd always go for stove enamelling if I wanted it to look good.

  • sawfish, utfb.

  • Jesus Christ...

I'm wondering about getting him to spay my 1856 Flying Stoat.

The frame has a few minor dings on the mainstays.

Would he fill these right in before spaying?

Is there a link to this priceless service and does he have an electronic intermail address?

I had a frame powder coated once and never saw it again, the lags in pentonville are all filled in with pain and general crap.

  • This is kind of confusing...... emmm what are you on about? Although Flying stoat was amusing :)

best to go here and read the whole thread, as all your questions will be answered and some that you didnt know you were going to ask!

  • He's not going to spay your frame it's not a female cat...

    +1

That is a really useful thread. Not too long, but has most of the info you need. The only downside is a good chunk of it is filled up with retarded questions that can easily be answered by either reading that thread or contacting Mario direct...

...and this being lfgss there are the usual saracstic responces cluttering up the place.

But as I said, over all it's a really good thread.

  • oh right :( Sorry, new to using forums. I've also noticed my quill pen keeps scratching the laptop screen when I'm trying to answer and words don't appear. I don't suppose there's any real way around this?

    Will read threads in future.

    pppffff whatever

sometimes they are very very funny, and informative, and sarcastic. ;-)

  • ... m(n)y quill ...

    I knew it...

  • just a thought. I'm going to ask Vaz if he'll send me a small pot of the paint used to paint the frame. This should help touching up chips.......... or has this point already been discussed 500 times in this thread :)

  • Anyone know is he can do a Mercian-style barber pole on the seat tube? Haven't seen any evidence of one.

    yes, he can do it
i saw one or two frames with barbers pole in his workshop when i visited him couple of months ago

Don't know if it's been discussed or not, but a friend asked Chas Roberts a similar question and was told that the paint has a shelf life, and that the colour you see varies enormously depending on how it's applied so you may not get the same colour. He recommended nail polish for chips.

  • Mario said that he'd give me a pot of the enamel he used on my Merckx (picture somewhere above) and he said yes, but I never got round to going to pick it up. Will probably just use a bit of nail polish paint instead.

Vaz usually offers you a tiny tin of the paint he used for re-touches, yes.

    Yep, BTI.

  • Just had this Colnago resprayed by Mario. It looks brilliant! But he did say, "would you like me to paint in the colnago clover relief bits?" and I said "yes". But he forgot. You really need to get him to write everything down.
But I think he's a good guy anyway, and is great value. Removing headet, bottom bracket and shifters, sandblast, respray, decals supply, decals fitting, hand painting details (OK so he forgot), lacquer top coat and re-fitting headset. £105.00
Not sure what he was like back in 2007 when this thread began but he seems ok now. Whether the paint chips easily only time will tell - I'd be just like a vintage Italian frame if it does though!
