Is there some advantage to be had with 24" wheels? They're just plain wrong on a BMX
More stable. A lot of older riders returning to racing find em easier than a 20", Cruiser classes are as fast as 20" and very competitive.
You can hire bikes at the new centre, I'd do that before shelling out. As far as OTP bikes go Redline is king, most others you'll be changing components quite quickly. New bikes are coming in now but there aren't a huge amount of race bikes imported so you might need to be quick.
All well and good looking at custom built bikes and you might get a bargain as they do depreciate massively but the rider will have built it up for them and it won't necessarily be right for you.
