I really want to do this ride, but my knee is playing up and I've been told to not do long rides by my physio. :(
Am going to diligently do all the excercises he's given me to try and fix my knee in time for the 1st. Fingers crossed..... -

Hi ladies, would love to join you, but will be in the Southest of France climbing the fucking Tourmalet......23k climb followed by 35k descent.
Holy. Fuck.
What was I thinking....

^^^ You were thinking it was a great idea and totally doable.
Prove me right :-). Will need pics too.

oooh, jenny j, good luck. I'd really like to hear how it goes - and how much training you've done for it - since I may be persuaded to do it in 2013

Unfortunately another bloke like to join, fortunately, he may persuaded one of his friend to come as well, she only recently started cycling in London after Mexico.

In. A week before running a half-marathon... yikes.

Hurrah! For new people coming along, nice one Sally and ed :)
Am currently at the top of Reigate Hill. View is lovely with bonus of toilets. Reckon I'll make this a stop on the day. Hopefully there'll be less wind on the day. It's not been the easier ride so far!

I'm baaaaack! Awesome ride, despite the wind, the rain and some epic gettting lost-ness e.g I almost did a Bendix and managed to go to the wrong pub at the top of Turners Hill :faceplonk:
Ditchling totally defeated me bar a few spurts but I'd forgotten just how worth it that view from the top and the ride into Brighton is...I are v disappoint that a Sainsbury's near the pier doesn't sell booze. I was gasping for a Guinness on the beach.
But yeah, enough of the blah blah blah...good work whoever came up with the route/found it. Am feeling more confident with my abilty to lead but is there anyone coming who did it last year and/or has a Garmin or similar to assist? Also, would someone be happy to volunteer for backstop type duties or do you think we'll be ok without?
And finally, start time...how does meeting at 9 for a 9.30am leave sound, from Clapham Common Southside?

Excellent work poots, I reckon 9.30am leave sound about right, give us enough time to take it easy and arrived in Brighton by the afternoon (2-3pm).

If i can get my garmin back from flickwg in time, you can borrow it Poots, it has the route already on it
-
• #187
Evening. v sorry but now can't make it - my mother's birthday and apparently there's a family do that requires my presence/presents

requires a minor detour, but the Budgens by the station does a fine selection of bottled beers, probably other beverages too.
oh oh there's a co-op even closer to the route too.

I went up lots of hills tonight as I attempted at get to The Flask for Norths. First I went all the way to the top of Hampstead to the wrong effing pub, then up Camden Road, then up Highbury Hill and finally Highgate hill which beat me at the steep bit and I had to walk for a while. I see it as excellent Brighton training! Glad I'm not navigating though.
Glad the recce went well too girls!

Happy to volunteer for backstop duties, considering my very slow speed. Not mech-minded though and will be riding with gears as hills of any description are not my friends.
List hasn't been updated in a while. What's up with that? :-)
- Poots
- cafe "i've just got a few snacks in my pannier" wanda (travelling way lighter than last time - lol)
- Scoot

Thanks cw! I'm sure between us we'll be able to sort any mechanicals out...and we shouldn't be that spaced out I reckon. As long as we wait at tops of hills etc.
Will update first post when I get a mo with more deets etc.

Ladies, I'm out. My apologies. Have a good ride.

I think I'll be about in london from the 30th of september for about a week or so, would it be much of an imposition to tag along? I'm going to try and go to as many events in the week as i can.
-
• #197
Would be grand to have you along! The more the merrier I reckon!

In!
I would have loved to come but I've got tickets to hospitality at Brixton academy the night before which goes on until 6am... So probably not the best idea to cycle so far on no sleep!
