  • Ya rite fellas. Long time lurker here.I currenrtly Looking for some advice regarding my first fixed gear. Have from £300-500max to spend. I would love to build it, i have no prior knowledge about building one though. Would it be worth a punt? I can see myself spending more than i plan to if i build though?

  • Why not buy a second hand bike off here? You'll get a better bike that way.

  • sounds perfect, ill keep my eye open. can you recommend anything to look for in that sorta price range?

  • Hi all!!

Bringing an old 80'so MBK Mistral back to its former glory in the form of a ss and im looking for its original decals. Anyone know if they're possible to get hold of?

  • Dont get a Create...

    I wasn't planning on it....

    Steamroller for me.

  • good choice!

  • Hi, Stumbled accross this place whilst trying to find details about a bike I've had in my Garage/shed/inlaws garage for years.

The view was to sell,(and it's on ebay now), but I'm now feeling I should get out and ride it. I'm probably going to pull the listing.

It's a 57cm Concorde Mistral and the more I clean it and look at it, the cooler and more desireable it becomes!

    Should I keep it?

    Thanks

    Nick

Yes, but ditch the rear light. Concordes are nice little movers and underated

  • Must admit I do like the retro styling. I've not ridden a bike for years, but this might me the trigger to get me out on he road.

I agree, the read light is horrendous! I did a bit more cleaning last night, and I took the light off and consigned it to the bin :)

The rusty chrome also came up nicely using balled up tin foil and a bit of water. Amazing what tips you can find on the interweb!

  • Concorde are highly rated frame, do not sell, unless it didn't fit you well.

  • It's about the perfect fit! I'm tall, but have relatively short legs and the bike feels comfortable, but hard to tell until I get new tyres and actually ride it.

It's still growing on me, and evben though I have a couple of bids it hasn't reached the reserve and I'm sorely tempted to pull; it from the auction!

I guess I could always spend some time restoring it and if it doesn't suit, the effort I've put in should pay dividens when I re-auction it (or advertise it on here). :)

  • it won't take much to restore, just some elbow grease and you'll be fine (new tyres a must though).

  • Hi guys,

Newbie, live in Bow, have a SS that my brother built for me so I can get fit again since I booted the ciggies. Err, I build and repair vintage scooters and have a serious interest in engineering and fabrication so I reckon a homemade frame will be next on the agenda.

    Cheers,

    Ben

    Ps, my bike

  • Hello, I'm Bastien from France and after a few visits on this forum I decided to sign up.
I ride an old peugeot red, which I have converted in fixie.
Sorry for my approximative english :S.

  • Welcome guys!

Oh, and nice bike ben!! If you live in bow, you should go to East drinks on a weds. Its quite close to you.

Already got rid of 90% rust on the chrome, still pitted, but only visible from a couple of feet!

There's some odd brown discoloration of the frame where the bottle cages were, any idea how to get rid. Tried all sorts and a lot of elbow grease to no effect!

  • Hi, I am from Belgium. Trying to get out of the nursery because I need an answer on my brake question.
Riding a '78 Plum Vainqueur converted to a fixie for 6 months now in one of Europe's heavily car infested cities, Brussels.
Now seriously thinking about going single speed.

  • You can ask questions while in the nursery. Do a search for a similar thread and post it there
