  • Looking for some basic cheap pedals to go onto my mate's bike when he sells it. Something that will take straps (it's fixed gear). Y'know, like the cheap shite that come on OTPs, which aren't so cheap when you try to buy them...

Got some pedals off an OTP if you're interested... no idea what they're worth, PM me an offer. (picture attached)

  • As my Carlton's not getting much love on the main forum if it hasnt sold in the next couple of days I'll split it, would any brumengers be interested in the parts below:

£140 Frame/Fork/nearly new Headset/bb (barry has first dibs if he still want's it)
£60 Wheels + nearly new tyres (Double fixed Maillard rear - Shimano Exage front, Both laced to Rigida rims. Bearings not super smooth, but reasonable)
    £25 Silstar Crankset 165mm w/45t NOS chainring

£25 Brooks 67' Pro saddle brown (slight damage, can show pics etc)

I'd keep the bars and stem for my roadie.

Just a quick update - Finally got someone wanting the whole bike - She's taking a look on Saturday and hopefully will take it - Will let you know if she does

I think I have the bottom cup of a campag chorus headset, free.

    PM'd

    Is this setback or inline?

Setback - Not entirely sure if i'm selling it yet (see above)

  • Looking to swap my newish (done about a 100 miles) 35c michelin tyres for some newish 28's or 25's. My mudguards don't fit!

  • Anyone got a Turbo Trainer I could borrow for a few days? I fancy giving it a go to see if it's worth investing in one for the winter.

  • How about you just get out and ride during the winter?

  • Yes, there are details of a variety of fashionable winter trousers to choose from in the Winter Clothing thread (rated 5★). No excuses

  • How about you just get out and ride during the winter?

Plan to do a mix of both barry! Is that okay with you?

Steve borrowed us one for the Berlin BBQ/training which I think is still at EMM's house. I'm sure if you ask nicely, you can give it a whirl! I'm moving back to those ends next week as well Tom.

I'll only be friends with you if you ride through the whole winter :)

  • That's a good incentive NOT to ride through the whole winter :)

    Quoted for grammar fail :P

I've offered Tom the trainer if he can hook up with Matt and take possession of it. To be honest, I'm not worried about getting it back. It cost me £2 from a car boot sale!

  • FFS I always get borrow and lend mixed up. At least I was being helpful!

  • S'ok. I get punished by the grammar Nazis enough. Sharing the pain and all...

**UPDATE **- Unfortunately, sold as a whole bike today.

  • Anyone got a Turbo Trainer I could borrow for a few days? I fancy giving it a go to see if it's worth investing in one for the winter.

It would be a pointless investment unless you're planning to use them for high intensity interval training, i.e. unless you're planning on racing.

Not only that but they're absolutely horrible to ride. The bike is completely locked into position, so it doesn't move side to side when you pedal. This lack of response and movement makes the bike feal dead. Do it too often and it'll make you hate your bike.

Apart from being really boring they're generally really noisy too, unless you spend money on a fairly decent model.

Even rollers are boring to use, but at least they feel a bit more realistic, since the bike moves side to side and you're forced to concentrate on your balance.
