Looks nice JC! Glad to see the place in use again, even though it is nearly the end of the season ;-) And a big thank you to all you guys that make it work.

Probably in the drizzle. Its going to take a bit of guess work to be honest. Any volunteers to ride round progressively slower and slower in the rain to find the "biting point"?!
Its definitely a lot gripper in the wet than the old surface.
Here's one for Mr Smyth, Dernymeister and RPM
/attachments/43625Don't worry, it wasn't muddy so the tracks still clean!
I was riding through every patch of mud I could find, then bunny hopping across the track every lap just to spite them.

Training is on tomorrow subject to weather yep?
Would I be ok in the intermediates, think I've only ridden novice before a few times, pace was fairly easy?
I have a genuine lfgss track day on my cv too. -

I've done a couple of Saturdays and found the pace to be progressive rather than too daunting. There's sure to be a good turn out tomorrow too.

I am no expert but isn't that bit of scaffold pole sticking out a bit of a safety hazard?

That's one of the gates which, by the looks of it when I was there on Wednesday, aren't finished yet.
-

Gates all finished now. Training on as usual.
Best to tell a coach your considering moving up a category so they can watch you during the session and advise. Especially after not having ridden the track for nearly two months - that's time to refresh your skills, not take a jump up.

So whose going down sunday to have a go at riding their own bike (sweet!!) around the track (if weather permits) and watch a fil-um?
-
• #37
Get there early, watch the racing, have a beer, then have ago riding your own bike :-)

There's no coffee shop at HH.

Jeremy White was one of the De Laune's in attendance who organises the Spring and Autumn Omnium series, (of which there is a specially reschedualed on this Saturday at 2pm) http://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/sessions-and-events/racing-calendar
The money for the resurfacing also came from the estate of Leonard Lyes who was a De Laune member, and officiated a couple of decades ago - so his club mates were there in tribute to him.
The "invites" were sorted out away from the action up in Manchester, so don't feel offended by not getting asked along. A lot of people who made it only found out a couple of days before through word of mouth.

That was a really great day at the track. Lots of support, good racing and scrippo on the mic.

That was a cracking day - great racing, sunshine and a decent crowd. Thanks to everyone involved in the organisation, that was what bike racing should be all about. I know Dave would have been very proud.
I must say as well that I thought that the trophy was fantastic, chapeau to whoever came up with the design. The two piece nature of it was a nice touch and I love the fact that it spells DC when held the other way round. Inspired.

No worries JC and was awesome that De Laune (hugely) helped the resurfacing costs. Just was funny to hear about the reopening from a Chris Boardman tweet!
Great day on Sunday. The Dulwich regulars were watching (nursing respective collarbone breaks / drinking pints).

What a great day of racing!.. was super gutted I'm still out of action and couldn't race.
Thanks to all those involved in organising and voulnteering... I know it is often a thankless task. The only race meet I have organised was much smaller than this, and that was stressful enough, so hats off to Scrippo!
I got some footage on my new camera, but dont really have the skills to edit it all together, so will put a few of the clips up on Vimeo sometime this week.

Corny was there too... but he prefered to do a bit of daydreaming, rather than watch the racing action!
looking forward to it, gonna bring down the wee purple beastie and set it loose in it's natural environment..
