thats simply wrong though, the crank comes with 2 spacers so you can adjust the chainline.
i run mine without either spacer and the chainline is dead on 42mm.
i had read the sram manual and saw that there were no shims, but then keep reading users who mention theirs came with shims or that they have used shims
i posted on his blog today and he assured me he has actually tried a few different spacers on his BB to move the chain line around a little
it does not appear to be like the Shimano external bb cranks with the little clip part, to retain hold the cranks at a specific distance, clearly you could not shim the Shimano cranks in or out but it appears there is a little play with the Sram ones
