  • So is the PX ok for size then, Vince? Are you keeping it?

Also the first outing for mine yesterday, and loved it. Unfortunately I may still have to do the odd session on hire bikes due to lack of transport, and storage issues at the track. I'm not sure I fancy a 15 mile undulating round trip from Blackheath on a 49x15 with no brakes...

I put brakes on for the ride there and back the ride home hurt a lot, couple of hills on silly gearing wiped me out. train most of the way next time

  • I'm going to keep the bike for now, will get a 70mm stem and try it again on Saturday

  • fixed/fixed on the rear, one gear for racing, another to get you there, depending on the length of your dropouts, a tooth equates to an 1/8th of an inch. so I'm riding 48/19 to the track and 48/15 on it.

  • My rear wheel only has one side, otherwise that's what I'd have done

  • I was the guy on the red Planet X track bike, it was its first outing - it's a great bike.

I enjoyed seeing double arrospok's on the track, heavy duty!!

    No Pain no Gain dude!

  • Dodged a bullet this morning; pulled out of the infinite rotation session to head home early and 2 laps later there's a crash that took out the people who were directly ahead and behind me as well as the three coaches shepherding the back of the group.

Everybody seemed to be up and walking about so no serious harm done but there must have been 7-8 riders down I think. Clever Pun in the forum jersey? Did you get a knock too?

  • ^ Forum jersey was me :-(

Was a fairly bad pile up but everyone was up and about not long after. Got a lot of grazes and will likely have a lot of bruises to match when i wake up tomorrow but hey, shit happens.

  • it killed roger's alu look, bent TT and sheared where the DT meets the headtube. :'(

  • saw the crash from afar before our induction. great that oldskoolracer and everyone else was not badly hurt - he didnt even rip his forum jersey! ;P

  • ^actually he did a bit. What's Velocio's policy on crash replacement again?..

  • Bike damage is always a bit of a pisser but glad to hear everyone was OK. I was a few yards ahead in the group when it happened.

    Take care of yourselves!

  • what were 3 coaches doing on the track that close to other riders?

  • oof sounds a bit nasty, glad everyones ok. I was feeling too ropey to head over, did the rain get there? it hammered it down here for a bit around 9.30-10

  • ^^Cycling

  • they were at the back probably, coaching people so this things happen less and less, I guess. Somtimes the group splits in two and they take care of people at the back.
It was good that there weren't major injuries. Shame about the bike,]
    Get well soon all involved.

  • Yes luckily noone looked too badly injured. The track is amazng BTW, fast and smooth. Beautiful!

  • I'll be down tomorrow as I have a rare Saturday off. Also bringing a friend for his first track experience!

  • ^I was just to post nearly the same! (without friend coming)

    #foreveralone

  • I'll be there too! Well, I plan to be but I've just noticed the time so now I'm not sure. Hmm.

  • Not early, mind. (novice rules)

  • blah! I'll try and sit in on your lot if I don't get dragged to the pub after inters...

  • I know this has been asked before, so apologies:

I have ridden the track, at a couple of forum events, but not for a year or two. At the first event I went through the basic induction that they offered to everyone. Obviously, I know a little bit about riding fixed wheel bikes.

Am I OK to come to the novice session, or do I need to be re-inducted?

  • Come down early, and have a word with the coaches. The induction is only about half an hour. Anyway, doing it means more time on the track...

  • bah, woke up exhausted, had a little nap and overslept.
    Bollocks. Looks lovely out there.
