If 26" bikes no longer need gears and saddles to be competition legal then it must be the first ever instance of the UCI taking off their 2D goggles.

Stock originally referred to stock mountain bikes with 26 inch wheels and required a minimum of 6 gears and a seat to compete, this has evolved over the years and now according to the UCI refers to wheels from 24-26, seat is optional and since 2004 single speed bikes have been competition legal.
