Saying that, I usually take three marathon pacing strips/bangles with me. The first being my 'ultimate' goal, the second being what I'd be happy with, and the third being a contingency plan. My last marathon's bangles were 2h50, 3h00 and 3h10, and throughout I kept a tabs on how I was feeling and whether the timings were achievable or whether it was best to defer onto a slower pacing.
More km's doesn't always mean better prep, I believe in quality over quantity. I'd say a well planned taper would probably be in your best interest.
