Cool...is the seatpost alu? Mate of mine just melted a stuck one out with a Base (Caustic Soda?). Ate up the aluminum pretty quick. Had to strip the components off the frame first, obviously...

seatpost is indeed alu, and it's 27.2 too.
that's why the price is low.
-
• #4
What size is it? Looks awesome - hope someone snaps it up quick given the seatpost should be easy to sort out.
-
• #5
17-18" I think.

Price drop from £350 to £320.
-
• #7
it got £250 worth of XT component alone, just the component, it's still a bargain!

bump.

This hasn't sold? This makes me sad :(
-
• #10
this is a great bike! have a free bump ed
-
• #11
probably the stuck seatpost put people off, but then it's still a good buy despite that.
-
• #13
Ed why not unstick the seatpost!?
-
• #14
I'm trying to rid all of my belonging, I'll do that next week if it's not shifted.
-
• #15
when do you set sail for los americas?
-
• #16
2012, with a snow bike instead hopefully, but changed the plan to ride on the Andes instead.

*mtb *with stuck seatpost. thats why it hasnt sold. if it were a road bike, it would be less of a problem.
worth it for the components...maybe...theyre not new though, ed.
will you split?
p.s.
if anyone wants to snap ed's bike up for the components, i have a great frame for sale. its a legendary trails, dj, 4x, xc frame by DMR and is for sale at a *very *good price. way better than a hakuna matata or whatever it is with a stuck seatpost. -
• #18
what does instead hopefully mean?

+1 to that mine took a day or two but it does itself whilst you get on with other stuff.

hey ed, did i ever tell you i lived in south america for eleven years?
-

Ed you saying your swapping the Thorn for a snowbike? That'll be hard work on anything resembling a road won't it!? If you're in SE asia around end of next summer I'll try and catch up with you... but won't hang about as I'm planning on 700c 50-80 miles a day... don't think a snow beast will manage that.
-
• #22
Heh, well it won't be, it's hard work when you tried to go faster than 15mph, but it'll still roll nicely.
I liked to do SE asia, good thing I got a Surly Crosscheck (which is too big for me, ugh) so I reckon I might be able to come to SE asia with ya.
Always good to have companion on a tour.

Chucklebruv: how much, what size? Will need a fork too I assume. If it's a good size and price I'm tempted.
Selling this as it's surplus, had a lots of fun with it, just put on some new tyres;
Only problem is - seatpost is stuck.
the part are brand new though;
Hope headset.
Kore 3 bolt stem and Easton flat bar with specialized bar end.
Deore disc hubs with mavic rims (braking surface)
XT groupset apart from the crankset (will included front shifter)
XT V-brake, SLX disc brake, Kona Project 2 fork.
11-34 with 36t chainring I think.
DMR chain cage and tensioner to keep the chain from coming off.
weight is pretty reasonable, will weight it soon.
Real fun to ride, even with a stuck seatpost, you get a decent amount of part on the bicycle that you can easily swapped over to a new one, I rather sell it complete to raise fund and all that (and downsizing everything I own).
Not with sweep back bar.
price is a reasonable £310.
