Where's your new bike then spoons?
So?

They're two different price levels though surely. Cheaper OTP but if you wanted to go £500 custom you could find out what geo you want.
Not forgetting Oak Cycles as a custom option too!
That would make sense, but that would be contrary to what we have heard so far. The problem is, unless they have enough orders to sub-contract out the manufacture, even a 'stock' frame will be made one at a time, driving the cost up to close to custom prices.
So?
I don't have a new bike, I have a new frame.
Also OAK CYCLES! Need to get Ryan back here to spread the McCaig theory on polo bike sizing.

I think with all 14 bikes you have a level of customisation that is up to you. Kamal made todds, but i think Lee made joshs' Josh? confused about that. Kamil is one of the 14 frame builders / mechanics and i think that he made Todds because of ease, speed, london based. Todd wanted some specifics, like the seat stays and a lower top tube, the rest is very close to mine and daves bikes. I guess what i am saying is the price is
£500 with that you get:
to choose your brake options.
Sizing.
Tubes (within reason)
and probably whether you want kamil or Lee to build them.
If you want to go further into the design process and you know what your looking for, you can just ask john to adapt the design. -

Kamil built mine and josh's. I paid more than £500 and that didn't include paint. I took the original geo which Lee Cooper was part responsible for and made a few adjustments. I explained I wanted something between the og polo frame and the ESB. Kamil built it out of convenience. He's a 14 builder and it was great to discuss what I wanted with him. We also discussed tubing and whether to use gussets etc. My frame is 631 with tough Columbus stays.
All this was happening at a time when 14 were making changes to the current version and working out where they wanted to go with the polo build. I would imagine Lee will be responsible for new builds unless Kamile is requested.
I'm unsure what you will get from the new version. If you want custom Kamil would prob be the one for that. I'd recommend a 14 bike.I'd also recommend most of the others too though.
Personal choice. -

Why do you hate carbon, Erin?
I think carbon is inappropriate for polo because from what I have seen, unlike steel (or better, ti alloy), it is likely to fail catastrophically once dented. The tensile strength is not really relevant, it's the impacts of mallets, balls, pedals that would concern me.
I have a lot of little dents in my RB-1, and I can't imagine that the frame would lasted as long as it has (4th year of polo), had it been carbon.

why is no one mentioning Marino, Im really happy with my new frame,
you get to choose everything, tube lengths, angles, brakes, headset, BB, frame style, its 4130 double butted with gussets and was £212 delivered and took 3 weeks from giving him the design to it arriving -

£212? Wow.

What do you need to know? The quality seems iffy but at that price you can't complain... frames are a little heavy but will be plenty strong enough (in theory).

Marino, the new pomp?

I suppose it would make sense to see how they stand up to polo first (still not enquiring for me).
Head tube : Hollow yes/no
Euro BB presumably
Brakes, what is the 4 bolt thing?
Pivot spacing? And the geo. Tricky if you don't really understand.

Brakes, what is the 4 bolt thing?
It's for Magura HS33 hydraulic brakes. Normally they have an adaptor to fix them to canti bosses, but with appropriate mountings they can be bolted directly to a frame. This is more common in the world of trials bikes.

is 6061 alu strong enough for polo?
Should be, my Kona is double butted 7005 alu mtb frame.

Can you remember the measurements/details of the frame you went for? Was the curved tube/triple triangle more?

A question I often ask myself is what would I replace my bike with right now if it was stolen.
So basically starting all over again with little money...I honestly think I'd just get an oldschool mtb in a really small size and make it work.
I'd be looking for one with a tighter back end to most and with short tt and raked forks which I could switch out for straight. I'd be happy to have a tensioner too.Trying max's new bike made me think there are bikes out there that are almost perfect. And cheap. I hate being so precious about my bike.
What would you do?

I think I probably would too. Ben from Machine Politics was riding some 80s MTB, and it really seemed to work for him. I guess my only reservation would be trail, but that could be sorted with a new fork, I suppose.

i did a bike cad using http://www.bikeforest.com/CAD/index.php
no extra for tripple triangle or curved tube, i chose the adjustable disk mount and those drop outs for about 4 different ones he sent me pics of.
Alejandro has had his frame a year now with no problems, camilo has had his for a while now too, he makes alot of trials bikes and BMX's so im sure they will be strong enough for polo, they come with a year warranty anyway
frame price regardless of style (excluding rear suspension) is $250

Exactly what i'd do if anything happened to my bruiser.
I hate the fact that i've spent so much money on my polo bike. If it does get robbed i'd be straight on ebay looking for an old Kona frame like max's.

I'm also in favour of the MTB thing. I would have grabbed something like Max's bike to replace my Pomp if I was able to find something. Gabes/Rik actually had something I could have used, but the cost of new wheels + 1" stem put me off.
