Trade: Brand new Vittoria Rubinos for something less tight

Just about ready to ride my bike, when I tried to fit the tyres and they're too tight for my rims.

Anyone have anything 700 x 23 in a different brand in the hope it might fit my slightly larger than 700c rims, straight swap Sunday morning?

Sorry not swapping. If you think they're tight, try the 20mm versions, I did and after 1 ride swapped back to Swalbe Blizzard Sport which virtually put themselves on! Bought 6 of them at £5 each - reckon thee'll be replaced soon, as everyone seams to be selling them cheap.

I think he means the inner diameter of the Rubino's is too tight to go over the rims he has.

Certain combinations of tyre and rim are extremely tight, and others are extremely slack.

With tight cases you end up having to use a tyre lever or two to ease the tyre over the rim at the risk of nipping the tube and puncturing it.. :-(

Once its on you then have the worry of a puncture out on the road, and need three tyre levers and eight arms to get sodding tyre off again.

Then you start all over again.........

Yes the 19/20mm tyres can be a bugger to get on/off and are to be avoided...... also they don't provide much protection to the rim on road hole dings as the sidewall isn't very deep so you clang your nice rims :-(((((

Got the tyres on in the end. Took loads of leverage from two butter knives.

the good news is that once on, the tyres seem to stretch a bit, so taking off again shouldn't be quite so bad an exercise- but do take 3 tyre levers at all times- strong and thin ones with good curvy ends, some plastic ones just bend under the pressure.

Put all three levers in the rim/tyre, secure one on a spoke and work the other two to ease the tyre out, I have been known to use a knee as an extra "hand" when I've had to wiggle all three levers at once though ....

Been there, done that, got the scars/T shirt/temper tantrums.......
