  • The manifest for the alleycat will have direct locations/clues so it'll be a case of either following a Geordie or typing it in on your smartphone or whathaveyou. The fixed sprint will definitely be a case of following the pack because you'll want to keep it close till the last stretch

  • Hey, I'm from Eaglescliffe. Seems like theres a few people from around here! I don't currently have a fixed but i'm planning on converting my old Raleigh road bike soon. Excited.
Where abouts in Eaglescliffe are you guys? I'm just near Preston Primary School.

  • Good to hear from another person interested in fixed in the local area. The more the better!

I live just near allens west, so not too far away. I'm currently not riding as having my bike sprayed up, but will be up and running next week. Can't wait to get out on the new ride.

We're trying to organise a regular meet and try to get more going in the area. If you know anyone else with a fixed or thinking about it, get them on the forum!

Hope you get going with your bike soon
    Dean

  • I don't understand their accents.

    Lewis Robinson? It's Ryan Blakemore:)

  • No im not lewis robinson though i know who you mean. Im Lou robinson.
How did you guys convert your bikes? dont whether to use the same wheels or buy a new 700c wheel set :-/ seen a ce deep v set on ebay thats a flip flop hub and i want that so i have the choice of a freewheel.

  • How about this for a logo? made it just now for fun. Could be good on stickers and stuff.

  • I'm not gonna go on like I'm the fixed guru, as I'm still quite new to it and learning all the time. There's a ton of really good people on here who will give you plenty of help and advice with everything to do with fixed, just ask about or search for stuff - I'm sure someone has asked similar questions at some point! www.sheldonbrown.com is a treasure trove of fixed gear related stuff.

I bought a old road frame that was already stripped down to the bare metal to make it easier for me to get sprayed up. I don't have any wheels that I could convert, so I opted for buying a new set with a flip flop hub - I don't really intend using the other side, but it is good to know that it's there if I need it. Pretty much everything else has been bought new and are not the most expensive of parts, but it will allow me to get riding and progress over time.

  • Thanks. Think if i do go ahead and convert it then i'll just buy a new wheel set. Im not bothered about respraying. I like the colour of it as it is now and I just wanna keep the retro feel it has with its weathered raliegh racing livery ha. New wheels and then ditch the brakes and maybe put on the brake lever off my old bmx onto it for the front brake.

  • Strip gears, one chainring, rear hub probs 130 spaced hub if old roadie frame, adjust chainline accordingly (new bb smaller/larger or add/ remove spacing on the drive side :)

    My bad

  • come on newcastle, we need to get out shit together, teeside have been around a week and the've already got a logo

  • I think we should merge an awesome film :)

  • lol, just want to get something up and running in Teesside and in the north east. It's still early days I'd say up north and we could make this happen.

We have a logo, but you have cog on the Tyne, which is pretty impressive, I'm looking forward to it!

  • Hows it going like? You guys had a meet yet or is the wind tremendously strong down there aswell?

  • Not too bad, heard from another guy who wants to ride fixed, so we're getting some more.

No meet as yet - I'm waiting for my frame to be sprayed and then ready to go. Yeah, winds are strong, not as bad as some places - reckon 20-40mph gusts at times. Bad up there?

  • Ahh well least the words getting out :)
Yeah the winds been bad up here, good if you want to hang the washing out and dry them in about 3 minutes but luckily we've been riding the tailwinds all day so win win really

  • Yeah, once we get out too, people might see us and get more involved.

haha, it does have it's advantages. I'm waiting on my new wheelset arriving and they got caught up in the bad weather and stuck at sea on the ship - hopefully arrive soon.

Tail winds are great, until you have to ride home and head on into them, makes it fun!

  • Hi I live in Yarm and am looking for a track bike for under £300.Anyone got anything to sell?

  • Seen two guys recently, one had a red fixe with straight bars, and the other had a smaller Dark blue? coloured fixie!

    Yo,

I havent been on here in a while, just heard from my brother da'an sa'auf that a Boro Sub-Forum has opened up.
I'll be the guy that HypestHype has seen around on my pink/black fixed wheel with (temporary) risers. Usually around the Acklam/Linthorpe/Town area.

I've noticed one or two guys on fg/ss bikes around the area, one with a rather nice courier bag and another with what looked like some pursuit bars on a fixed but I couldn't be sure.
Would be good to say hello to some fellow fixed riders around the area.

  • Also, if anyone ever needs to loan any tools I can meet them around town where I work most days. Got most things for maintaining a fixed-wheel besides a set of headset spanners.

  • Whoaa didnt expect this to happen hahaa :P. This is ace! Teesside sceneeeeeeee :)

  • so does anyone want to organise some sort of meet? on my commute (when im not driving) i go from norton to middlesbrough along the usual cycle route down the A19 and over newport bridge. i ride a Charge Plug, maroon with bright green wheels.

  • I saw that a boro sub forum had been set up and I did a little lol
