Strange. Mines looks perfect. Looking nice, it what campag parts do best.

It doesn't sound normal.
Mine is three years old now but is beautifully made and finished.

sounds more like a crank made for double chainrings with the back step on the spider (badly) machined or filed off.

Which would definitely not be a "new campagnolo pista crankset" and a rather large fail on the part of the seller/retailer.

Do cycling bargains (I'm not familiar with them and haven't used them) deal in samples or seconds?
(Would Campagnolo sell their samples and seconds?)
A friend of mine bought a new campagnolo pista crankset online. It arrived today amidst much excitement from him only to discover upon closer inspection that it has some fairly obvious defects. On the back of 2 or 3 of the spider arms, the sides next to where the chainring bolts go look like they've been filed badly or maybe machined badly whereas the other arms are smooth and square at the sides as you would expect. Anyone had any experiences similar to this with the modern campy pista crankset? (165) They came from cycling bargains.co.uk by the way.
