At the mo you can get Big Apple 26'' tyres for 15 quid from planet x RRP about 45 quid. I've put some on my MTB - seem fat and meant to be pretty puncture proof. They are having a pretty good sale on swalbe.
My Marathon pluses lastest longer than my bike (including frame) - best value tyres ever and not one puncture.
