  • Super. Don't suppose you've any spare 700x28 compatible tubes just in case? I tried to pick some up today but they all had stumpy valves, no good for my semi-deep rims.

  • I have a 700x23, pump and a bundle of patches. Might even have a CO2 set that I brought last week in a moment of gear-envy. Never really very prepared for Norwich rides since moving to London - seems like I have to bring KGs of stuff every time I come down. Like a suit so I can go straight to work... Sure we'll muddle through between us all.

  • I have many tools and a pump, if there's anything else you might need that's bike related just let me know and I'll bring it. Save you carting quite as much stuff about.

  • Are we still planning to eat at a pub on the way, or shall I eat a big breakfast? or both?

Homersfield has a pub. Peasenhall has a shop, pub, tea shop.

  • I'd eat a decent breakfast then see how it goes. That's what I'm doing anyway.

  • Unfortunately this message is coming to you from work!

Fuckers have called me in to work this morning, Hopefully I'll be out and still have time to make it with you, If not, I may just have to catch you up or come meet you tomorrow morning.

    I'll keep you updated.

  • Did it happen?

  • It started. I think Ben made it.
The rest of us were working / hungover / slack.

  • So only Ben did it?

  • Thats embarrassing... And I was so gutted I couldn't get in on this!!

  • Greater numbers would have put more pressure on me to go through with it.
Fully laden bike into headwind was unpleasant though, I could really do with lowering the gearing on the freewheel.

  • I didnt see this until now, shame (not that i am in shape but would like to be)
    Inspiring.

  • Inspiring that me, Col and Ben set off, but that me and Col turned back and only managed 35 miles? You're easily inspired!

  • Haahaa. And i am so lazy that i still aint got my dolan fixed since the DD.

  • Dredging this up - anyone fancy it again in Aug?

I'm going through physio and fitting again but sure a little pootle to the coast wouldn't hurt. Bivi, beer and being outside would be awesome.

  • Sparks,

Me and several people have mentioned a mini bikepacking weekend sometime in August.

The proposed route was Norwich to Hunstanton, back round the coast and camp at Holkham/Wells Next The Sea. BBQ and Beers at the stopover.

Ride to Holt in the morning for Coffee/Breakfast at Byfords. Then back to Norwich, perhaps via Sheringham.

There are 3 or 4 of us into it so far, would make sense for us all to go in one group would it not?

Totally up for this. I'd probably go fixed and just bring a bivvi bag. When are you thinking?

  • I have a discal bulge in my spine at the moment, so I think I'll be on the touring bike with panniers or a rack as I'm not really allowed to wear a courier bag or backpack, but yeah, doing it as light as possible was the intension.

not sure, in august some time, so only semi vague!

  • Keep me updated - would love a little adventure. Off in a few days to Mont Ventoux, but no camping thankfully.

  • Cool, planning a Ventoux trip next year myself.

have a good one dude, hopefully something will be sorted for when you return
