  • excellent.

  • people don't normally play on mondays at newt though, do they?

um, people have and will want to play mondays, be it drill nights, random teams nights, random throw-ins, league games, etc.

if it's ad-hoc i'm cool, but a regular night i'm not happy about. Would you be happy if it was at downs on a monday?

If that's directed at NE players, then I would say that I would be perfectly happy for it to be at Downs on a Monday. Honestly. I totally understand why the Bs want to play without the As, I think it may benefit London polo if they do.

  • I don't see this happening every week tbh...

Background: A bunch of us played a couple of team nights before this year's Open and we were surprised at how much fun we all had... Evenly matched games played with great spirit, lots of time on the ball for everyone, blah blah, etc etc...
I'm just greedy and want to have even more fun playing polo and become an incredible player who confounds critics with amazing skillz... Etc...
I will also be at Souths on Wednesday...

  • I just want to play more polo.

I don't own downs, if people want to use it, they can.

  • PS I totally agree with Bill, I think this could produce better players more quickly, raising the standard of London polo as a whole...
Evrything is in place... 2012 will be London's year...

so you'd be happy with people saying you can't use it

  • so you'd be happy with people saying you can't use it

On a night, which is not a dedicated night for throw-ins, that they organized for games amongst themselves (with the idea of getting better)? Why not? Not all that different from team nights, really.

  • I think spring break's drill-nights have moved north now anyway.

  • so you'd be happy with people saying you can't use it

I wouldn't be totally happy, but it's a public facility, and also I realise that it's necessary for the future of London Polo that less experienced players get quality game-time, not just have rings run around them all the time by the stronger players.

  • .. but there is already 2 separate threads dedicated to playing at newt on monday nights, one was for drills and one was for 'monday polo'. They are ad-hoc by nature. I dont have a problem with intermediates playing games, organising a select bunch of throw ins, do it on email, state a time and play your games whenever you want, but dont say that i cant come and play newt on a monday because i'm not intermediate. Do you really think i wanted to play throw ins with you when you sucked balls joe? No i would rather have put you on another court with a bunch of learners and enjoyed my session without having to swerve around a bunch of beginners. The thing is, the reason you dont suck anymore is because other people like me have been inclusive of you and others regardless of their standard. Now your telling me you want to have a monday night to your selves and better players arent welcome...? Fuck off.

    In a nutshell, yup...

  • nice. Your given love and encouragement and grow up to be a tall beautiful sunflower, that bites the hand that feeds it.
    peckham is that way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Sounds good, I can see the idea behind it, Something like beginners, ie. better players are welcome but will have to play at the same sort of level as the intermediates. Casual like. Plus it's just more polo innit.

  • oh now i know how you feel joe. no wonder you suck.

  • but dont say that i cant come and play newt on a monday because i'm not intermediate.

We aren't saying that. Anyone is welcome, just be aware of the audience it's meant for.

If people want to come down for other reasons, then do it, but I haven't seen any drill nights or anything else there in months.

If you come down on a Monday, and get offended by our not including you, then fine, but don't complain about something that's not an issue.

  • This is my favourite scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

  • And for the record, I did originally do this as a PM thing but then thought "why shouldn't I make it public?'... I just remembered why, it's because you can't fucking win either way... Keep it secret and you get called out (Ciaran's secret beginners polo from a coupla years back) or come straight out with it and you still get called out... And it's always the same player that gets his knickers in a twist... Fucking bullshit...

    Tempted to kill this thread...

Sucking the life out of south polo single-handed since pretty much day one... Pffff...

  • yes you are sucking life out of it, so just stop.

  • Fuck off...
