I have streetvan membership if you don't find anything cheaper
-
• #3
Cool, thanks. Is Streetvan just £9ph or are there other secret costs the website is not making obvious?
-
• #4
That's basically it- you have to pay for mileage once "30" ticks round on the odo.
-
• #5
Ace.
Now I just have to pack better than last time.
-
• #6
Looks as though its around 12 miles each way...
Will also need to be booked in advance
-
• #7
I'd book it now if I were you
-
• #8
really? I don't think I've ever booked anything that far in advance. Isn't that just tempting fate for it to all go horribly wrong?
urgh I hate moving.

Log in/get Sandip to login and look- I'd bet that quite a lot of the vans will be booked already for the weekend in question.
-
• #10
Book now=get the van round the corner, book later=have to go get a van from Ealing

Depending on what time you want to do it, I'd guess at hiring for a few hours at least. I'd guess an hours driving each way and then depending on how much stuff and who's available to pack/unpack maybe 30 minutes + at each end.
You are looking at £31 and a few pence for 3 1/2 hours rental and that includes 20 miles of fuel add a couple of quid for the extra miles on top.
At a max, probably around £35 to be safe.Van available all day on the Saturday at the moment - collection at Gibbins Road

Cheers Sandip, PMed.
Also if anyone has any furniture that they want to freecycle (or sell me for super-cheap) and can wait until 20 August or after for collection, let me know. I need literally everything. It's lucky I have good camping kit.

I have a bath that could be transformed into a stylish sofa with a modicum of work?
-
• #14
Do you still need to disassemble a wall to get it out of your house? I'll take it if I can watch that, sounds fun.
-
• #15
Nah, the
horrible avocado bathdeluxe proto-sofa on offer is already removed, and standing in the workroom. -
• #16
pfft. not interested then.
-
• #17
do they still not have the £25 overnight deal? 12hrs 9pm>9am for £25 inc the usual milage. useful for moves as roads are quieter and you can take your sweet time about it.

Looks like it's just Monday to Thursday, and I need to move Saturday. It all seems to require way more organisational skills/patience than I have.
Having moved 11 times in the last 8 years you'd think I'd be quite good at it by now but I seem to be getting worse.

streetvan was pretty simple when I've used it, once for myself, and once for another forum person. I would guess you'd need more than 3.5 hours, especially since you have so far to go between places. I think I always booked for 6 or 7. I would have offered to help but your post reminded me that I had agreed to ride in a big circle that day...
-

rats, I forgot that was then. Urgh, I have to miss a ride and everything. I might throw away everything I own that's too big for a pannier and try moving by bike.

Just found out the people who are taking my room aren't moving in till later on - don't suppose anyone has van access between this Saturday and Wednesday that's cheaper than Streetvan?
-
• #22
Don't suppose anyone with a Streetvan membership is around this Saturday to help me shunt some crap secondhand Ikea furniture from Bromley to West Norwood?
-
• #23
saturday afternoon i can
-
• #24
thanks for the offer joe - unfortunately the seller turned out to be insane so I am going to have to search elsewhere for furniture. Possibly a skip.
Can anyone as per title help me move at some point on Saturday 20 August from Stratford to West Norwood? I will pay you in cashmonies and beer and be extremely grateful. And you don't have to carry anything. But you do have to be nice to my cats.
