For Sale: Black Centurion Le Mans - Made in Japan

Anyone interested in my Centurion? It's a nicely finished 58cm Tange Butted frame made in Japan, and all the bits and bobs are black, making it look rather nice.

Not sure what it's worth - I was hoping for something around the £250 mark, but will consider any offer.

Frame was designed for 120mm OLN rear hub - I think the original spec was a Nexus 8spd but now it's running 48x16

Spec is as follows

• F+F: Tange Butted
  
• Seat Tube C-C: 58cm

• Front Wheel - FSA High Flange Hub, 20spoke, 40mm Rim, Dedaccai Grinta Tyre & A/K Track Nuts
  
• Rear Wheel - On One FlipFlop, 32spoke, Mavic Open 4CD (old open Pro - NOS), 16T Campag Track Sprocket, Gatorskin Tyre.
  
• Chainset - Shimano 400LX with 48T Sugino Track Chainring on a FSA BB
  
• Chain is a basic 1/8 chain from CRC.
  
• Seatpost is a Haro Inline with homemade brass shim - Saddle is a Concor Light
  
• Bars are 3T Ergo, and the stem is an 120mm ITM Eclypse Tig Welded Cro-mo in "Titanium" finish - tape is basic CRC black tape. Tange Headset
  
• Brake & levers are Dia Compe

Picked this up from Rik Van Looy today, he's a super dude and the bike is really gorgeous.

May put her back up on here for selling in case I feel I cannot adjust to the fixie lifestyle, by all means if anyone else is interested in her, say so.

Interested in the whole thing no split if selling as bought. Had a crash recently and my bike's dead, so i need something to ride. What price were you thinking of selling it around?

"Don't know why you bought this" don't be like that dude after having my bike stolen I was desperate for another one quickly. Then the bike was sold to me with a totally defect crank (Rik had destroyed the threading whilst adding new pedals) which I've replaced, and I overlooked the matter that it was a fixed gear bicycle as it's usually mentioned in the description, yes, I didn't notice that it did not have gears. I spent £75 getting a new crank, having it fit on and then replaced both inner tubes as both had three punctures in (my total cost for the bicycle now hitting £300). Rik then kindly contributed £50 for the repair which he had not yet done before I offered the bicycle to you. After now feeling okay about fixed gear I want to move to Bristol which is the hilliest city in Europe and want to sell this bicycle to put money towards a new one.

There's nothing to be suspicious about, I offered it to you after fixing it as a loss for myself and have now offered it to Lazysuperhero for £245, I'm a good person and didn't feel to make this whole history public because there is now nothing wrong with the Centurion, I'm even throwing in pedals (of course not the ones that came with it). Notice how I didn't say anything on here at the time, or cry in this thread about Rik's mistake and instead just solved the issue without any negativity having to be put in the open.

I would also like to add that the bicycle rides really beautifully, the frame is incredibly light and is a joy. As a whole there's just been a bit of stress about getting her to this point and I don't wish to add gears to her as I feel it's best to keep her as she is. I did say from the onset I wasn't happy about adjusting to the fixie lifestyle, and that is still the reason for why I'm selling it, please don't judge me for that reason. I just hope that no one is put off by my initial weird experience.

Just to show good faith to everyone here, not as a sign of paranoia, the bicycle can go for £220 which is what I initially bought it for, so that there is no possible indication of any 'gain' here for me and so that the loss in money and my initial mistake of seeing that it was a fixed gear bicycle, doesn't mean that anyone else has to suffer.

Wasn't saying you were out to gain anything, your PM's were just a little confusing - the first one you sent me had no indication of a fault with the bike so you were assuming you could move the problem on to someone else. You should keep the bike and put gears on it for Bristol (have lived there before) depending on which part of the city you intend to live you could actually keep it fixed or SS, i managed a 5 mile cross city commute every day on a track frame and Bristol really is cycle friendly.

To add my tuppence worth, neuromancer did indeed pay me £220 for this bike and I'm happy to vouch for his integrity

This is a classy looking bike with a well finished frame and an excellent set of wheels
It's clearly not right for neuromancer so I hope he can recoup some cash, get himeself something more appropriate, and find a suitable buyer for the Centurion.

It was an honest (naïve) purchase and I can see nothing shady about it.

It was sold without pedals (I'd been using Time Equipe and 80's Look Arcs, of little use to the modern metropolitan man), but the roadster pedals I'd fitted failed on his way home, damaging the RH crank arm thread.
We agreed that since he'd paid for a complete bike, and now had one without crank arms, I would foot the £75 bill from his LBS for a new chainset, & he'd return me the damaged unit.

so what chainset does it have now ?

Rik you're that much of a saint that you'd wired the £25 without even telling me. What a nice surprise. The chainset is a Sturmey Archer in black, can't tell you any more than that.
