Stolen bikes

Hey all. My friend just had his 2009 Trek 1.2 stolen outside the Pembury Tavern in Hackney. The frame is black with red and white details, white bar tape and saddle, plus black pannier rack and kick stand. Looks like this one: http://www.theantidj.net/archives/91 (but with the additional stuff.) Thanks for keeping an eye out - he's gutted.

There are usually quite a few people outside the pub smoking cigarettes. Do you know what lock he used, how it was broken?
