Has anyone had any experience using handlebar bags with bars other than drops? I'm looking to put some on my nitto northroad bars, and I'm worried about the sweep getting in the way. I am looking for something larger than the average barrel bags (volume of about 4-5 liters). I also dont have a rack to mount them on.
I had a Jitensha bag on my bike for awhile, it has upright handlebars but they don't sweep forward as far as the Nitto North Road. However, since my bike is in the 59cm territory it didn't matter because the bars rode above the bag. Of course, the bag was mounted to a rack, which I'd highly recommend; most people prefer not to have the added steering input from a purely handlebar mounted bag. Your rack options are varied and you needn't get something mounted way down the fork. Depending on your brake type, some can be attached to cantilever studs, some may use clamps, et cetera.
