Just came across this and curious about the whole sizing thing. I have happily ridden 54cm on tours abroad with bikes provided - I am a lady at 5'5". I want to get a new bike and keep being told that I should be on a 52 max and a ladies too which is a smaller feeling frame. I currently have a 54cm ladies Marin Fairfax which feels small. Does anyone have any advice on how to choose?
Thank you! -

I saw this the other day, and thought it was a bargain. Looks like it's sold now though http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=162404

I highly doubt a 54cm frame could be too small for you! when on the saddle and the pedal is all the way down you should have only a slight bend in your knee. Also the saddle should be a good few inches high and not slammed all the way as far down as it can go..
saddle roughly just below belly button too as a very rough guide
best of luck..
Anyone have a small lopro frame or complete bike you'd be interested in selling?
Something suitable for someone who is 5'5"
