  • like girls, guys have different sized portions everywhere, between leg 'area' I guess too. Just a case of finding some that don't gather up?
Personally do not like padded shorts as they often ruck up and keep things far too warm down there, recently gave up with the lycra in the summer heat (lol, yes, there was actually sun out there, once, I swear, I saw it) and reverted back to un padded endura humvee 3/4 MTB shorts, with the leg zips & pockets open they are really well ventilated and the thicker/higher density (?) material doesn't bag up/move around like lycra does.
Decent shop should allow you to try various things on, though for obvious hygiene reasons its pretty normal they ask you to keep boxers on.

  • Thanks for good advice BrickMan. I will try other brands and see if their idea of human shape is more like me - just like with shoes and other things I suppose. I was just quite surprised, and maybe because lycra is so stretchy I thought it would be more likely to fit better. Boxers will be kept on of course!

  • Can anyone suggest some decent but not too expensive bib shorts. Something around £25-30 would be about right

  • ^ I got some from www.ridebosh.com for £26, but it seems their website is down. I still haven't managed to take them out on a long ride but they felt pretty good on a short 10-mile test.

DHB ones from Wiggle get good reviews. It's a good time of year to buy shorts as you'll find shops selling off summer stock at sale prices to clear space for winter kit.

  • none of the dhb stuff on sale I think. Ribble keep doing crazy offers on Giordana stuff though..

  • Santini 3/4 bibs with coolmax insert from Prendas. 49.99.

So damn comfy I get tempted to wear 'em when not on the bike.

Why would you wear boxers with cycling shorts? Defies half the point surely?

    to try them on?

  • Ah apologies, skimreading the thread, my bad

  • yup, you don't want someone elses man cheese in your new shorts ;)

On-One had their bibs down to £19.99 last week, knowing them they will be that price again soon.
