• of course Bill, that is just my opinion

  • What about if we just happened to be stopping by for a light evening game of 3D connect 4?

I'll give you game, say Orwell around 9ish?

  • of course Bill, that is just my opinion

I know I would find it very discouraging if I discovered that I was the last, or second last to be drafted. There's no real reason for it to be public - the captains are hardly likely to collude to defraud the players, are they - and this isn't professional sport or real life, so why make it so "it is the way it is"?

I know that someone of the captains are in it to win it at all costs, but I just want to have some fun polo, and get to play with some players I wouldn't normally play with, in a format that we don't normally play. Fun polo does not include, IMO, pointing out to someone that they are considered the worst player out of 32.

  • Bill, people know they are the worst player out of 32

if you were not a captain, did you expect to be choose before Todd, Cam or Emmet???

this is not a bubble, this is real life, this thing happen, and its not the end of the world

  • I *was *in it to win it at all costs, but in the past few days I have been reading about a more Zen approach to sports.

Not even joking. I'm so chilled right now. It's all about the process not the result, if we take care of the process the result will come.

White Power! Is that team name ok?

  • What have you been reading?

  • Zen and the Art of Polo Bike Maintenance.

  • groan

  • Shit... I just actually laughed at something Mark wrote. What is the world coming to? (very good mark...especially the groan)

On another note.... Where are we playing, and when? Anyone wanna head pre-6pm?

  • this is real life

Precisely my point- it's not real life - I play polo to get away from real life! My life is real enough, thanks! I don't need polo to be too real.

  • White Power! Is that team name ok?

    I knew it!

  • Yeah, let's play at Mitch, close to the Orwell.

Obviously everyone is welcome to come, we'll just send the captains to the garden for 10 minutes to do it, or we all go out to the garden.

    @Erin.

I'm happy for any team changes to be made, as long as a majority of captains approved those changes.

If any one should wish to get the podium for himself, and to
effect this by what he does, I see that he will not succeed. The
podium is a spirit-like thing, and cannot be got by active doing. He
who would so win it destroys it; he who would hold it in his grasp
    loses it
    .

    Lao-tzu

Oh. I meant trading that other captains had no control over, but could conspire to prevent.

i.e. in Sydney, I tried to sell 2 of my players to Adelaide for a guy named Lachy, who I knew Jude wanted. Then I had planned to trade Lachy for Joel.

  • So Rupert is planning to win by not wanting to win? He can't lose.

  • A book I'm reading on another topic discusses a Zen approach to archery, the theories could be applied to any sport really.

  • Zen and the Art of Archery is pretty great (and widely applicable to any performance discipline).

  • Oh. I meant trading that other captains had no control over, but could conspire to prevent.

I'm up for this kind of trade.

  • Dude, let's get Zen.

My teams new name is ' Zen, or STFU'. White Power had other connotations.

  • Oh. I meant trading that other captains had no control over, but could conspire to prevent.

    Yeah, fuck it, why not.

Trades between teams are allowed, without any approval.

They just need to be completed by Saturday afternoon, so that people know when their first game is.

Also, you have to keep your teams between 5 & 6 players.

But if there are to be any late additions (say replacements for last minute drop-outs), that will have to be approved by a majority of captains.

  • I think Mitch will be slippy tonight after the week's rain.

Downs is best IMO. Then Pembury for draft?

  • I've told everyone Orwell, and I need to pick up goals and stuff anyway, so I'd prefer Orwell. I don't really care which court though.

The sun should try out Mitch though, probably will only be the one side that's slippy.

  • It's at the Orwell. I'm already there. (in my mind)

  • what time will peeps be there? I can leave whenever cause i aint at work

  • I'd rather play Downs, the surface at Mitch was nasty last week.
