So I'm doing this in a couple of days. Don't suppose anyone has the GPS goodies for London > Newhaven/Dieppe > Paris, do they? [/lazyfucker]

mike, try post 2 in this thread.

Yeah I had a look at that but that looks old school. 250 waypoints?? Pff! :) Was hoping someone might have some GPX Track files. The less thinking I have to do on this ride the better!

in that case i have nothing.

Nope... although I'll have a dig.. My 305 only lasts 8 hours. I've since upgraded to the 800 and bought a power monkey thingy charger.
Dieppe to paris is one road, the only tricky bit is getting into Paris, but we ended up getting the train from just outside Paris due to our Eurostar train leaving too soon.
When we did 5th Nov last year it rained for 20 hours... I hope the weather hold out for you!!

Yeah I recently acquired an 800 too. No idea how to use it though so hoping someone can provide the route for me to plop into it.
20 hours of rain I can handle. 20 hours of moaning about the rain I cannot.

This campsite isn't that far from Paris central - right by the river. We camped up there and cycled in to Paris during the day.

I'm tempted to give it another go in Summer as it was so cheap to stay there. There's a town nearby for food and a shop on sight.

Necrotastic
got a pass to do this in a few weeks. Planning to ride out on a Thursday night, overnight ferry, arrive paris mid-late arvo.
Any thoughts on whether the ride from Lehavre or Dieppe is nicer?
Also, what's the story with the sleeping arrangements on these things? do I need to book a seat/berth or just konk out on the floor somewhere?

I'm doing it at the end of july - taking the dieppe route. You don't need to book a cabin, though you can if you are keen. They were already sold out on the sailing I chose.
Annoyingly I had to change my planned day as they had no more bike space left on my first choice ferry, but plenty of space for foot passengers on their own. Bit odd.

I asked the guy at fairy-world over the phone:
"So how come I can book as a foot passenger, take my bike apart (its within permitted dimensions) and put it in an Ikea bag and pay £20 less, but can't just ride my bike on?"He said:
"It goes by the weight and they can't have that many bikes on board."OK

Ha ha.
When we got the ferry to Dieppe the bikes are all locked together in a section of the hull.

Last post - we did this last year, great ride, no traffic, not many hills.

I'm locked in on one evening, but thanks for the offers.
Will need to meet my missus on Friday the 28th in Paris..
just doing a basic look at the Le Havre option, most of it could run in the national parks/forests, which seems pretty nice. there are even some hills, it seems....
Anyone been through here?
Schweet, sounds like we'll have a good group. New thread time?
