  • Hullo,

Do any of you lucky people are willing to either lend me or sell me his rather expandable saddlebag please? needed it by Friday!

  • Blimey! That's a bit wierd Ed...was just about to post the very same thing after being v impressed by one at the weekend (and trying to carry way too much on my back)

    Good luck tracking one down!

  • I'm a bit upset at it being called expendable though. :[

  • But you're in demand!

  • it is expendable isn't it? I mean in the sense of litres, rather than it being disposable!

    poots, while searching, I found the Ortlieb one to be the largest one I can find, Ortlieb being Ortlieb they're likely to be good (and Carradice being Carradice, is out of stock!);

  • expandable?

  • those Ortlieb ones are 2.7l capacity I thought Scotts were 10l+

  • Is there's a larger one on the interweb that's not the unobtainable Carradice?

was looking for the Carradice Super C Saddlepack, but being Carradice, they only make them when they feel like it (8l)

  • expandable?

The ortlieb one looks like it's discontinued, according to wiggle

  • I need to get Ed and poots to start a bidding war! I don't want mine.

  • I have the large one - just one thing to watch out for, the little velcro strap which wraps around the seatpost is rather fragile, and if it breaks the thing will swing about like a motherfucker when loaded. Being Ortleib though, you can make a replacement and screw it in yourself...

  • strange, I thought the Ortlieb large was easily available, seen it in a few real shops.

it's really not very big though.

i have this one, it's great. enough room for a day's stuff (lock, tubes, tools, food, wallet, keys - not great for you phone unless it is in a separate case as the pack is one big pocket). Very waterproof and keeps tyre spray off your arse/saddle

  • I don't want mine.

The Carradice is the one that's not readily available, rather than the Ortlieb.

You could carry a Carradice Camper Longflap at the back. They're massive and because they sit very close to the rear of the bike, they won't wag about. They easy to get into as well, so sorting through gear is pretty straighforward. You get a pair of decent sized side pockets as well.

You're right though, out of stock everywhere obvious. I'd give Carradice a ring if you're interested.

  • Kind of missed the point of bikecamping saddlebags there^^^

  • much to popular contrary, the saddlebag in picture is a lots more stable than the Carradice Camper.

The Camper felt like having two mini panniers under the saddle to me.

  • It is also more likely to catch on passing foliage and prevent you being able to slide back off the saddle on technical terrain. Bikecamping kit is designed to allow you to ride off road much like you would normally.

  • WOAH....
does anyone know who makes that saddlebag?
looks like just what i need...
