most rear mechs are similar arrangement with the spring, you have to tension it then screw the bolt in a little bit (1 turn max) then twist the cage to about the correct position, then tighten the bolt.
Its ALWAYS the opposite way to what you first think.
I had a bash at a Suntour Cyclone rear mech, oh god, what a disaster, it had THE most complicated jockey cage I've ever come across and it was all beautifully seized together. -

I've just about managed I think. It was so badly seized that the 'sleeve' around the mounting bolt was acting like part of the bolt and tensioning the spring as it screwed in making it physically impossible.
I've somehow got it in though, for now at least.
I've just taken off the jockey cage as it was pretty seized. I'm glad I did as any lube had magically turned to rust. I gave it a clean out and relube but for the life of me I can't get it back in.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a service manual or video? I can't see anything on google. Is the assembly the same across the dura ace range? ie, jockey cage assembly attached to mech by recessed 4mm (?) allen bolt?
When trying to reattach it the assembly catches the return spring so as I try to tighten it the spring tenses and tries to loosen it. It's like the spring needs to be held in place while the assembly is reattached.
I'm beginning to think it's one of those 'never do this' things.
