Proper leather shoes

Nay. Another confused colabo. It's like people think that taking 2 shoes and potatochopping them is creativity. When CDG did the first one it fit with the rest of their fashion line. When everyone else just copied it is just sad. Even Kurt Geiger did it.

I'm tired of all these orthopaedic/corrective shoes. If you fancy something robust with a country style, maybe get a standard Tricker's brogue with a commando or a dainite sole? Present have some ace c-shade commando brogues. Too full-on for me but no more conspicuous than those ^

That white sole is great on the redwings where it belongs. On brogues it just looks dumb. The trickers comando doesn't work for me either but I do like the danite sole.

Should I put a rubber cover on the soles of my leather-soled boots to prolong the life of the soles?

They are super-thick double layer leather soles, so adding a thin bit of rubber is unlikely to affect the flexibility or 'feel' of the shoes.

depends if you gonna wear them a lot in the rain or not. i've done it to a pair of boots i have that i don't want to be precious about

that said, i don't think leather soles is an issue in rain if they're quality and you let them air dry afterwards (?)

It's just to make them last longer. Yeah, sometimes they're worn in the rain.

No, if you glue rubber onto a leather sole, it does affect the "flex". The two leather layers are stitched, right? The bottom layer has "further to move" when the sole flexes being on the outside of the curve (if that makes sense) - and the two layers being stitched rather than glued allows enough movement between the two for this to happen. If you glue on a third layer, the now middle layer is liable to crack along the edges, as is the welt.

If they're cheap shoes, get rubber soles, otherwise invest in new leather soles when you need to, and get it done by a decent cobbler.

i can't do this as i 'heel and toe' as im a fast walker and can wear down to the stitching on the toe in a day. my local shoe repair place does a nice thin india rubber front sole for £11 that i get fitted to all my leather shoes. i'm better of doing this and getting a resole later than a resole every 2 weeks. i don't want to use blakeys especially on a lighter weight thinner soled shoe.

Just been preparing a pair of derby Trickers for the winter, it's a 3-4 day process

They're about 12yrs old so need a lot of love and attention
