  • ..I always find it horrible that GA2G and the lock police are always so fast to jump on people who have had their bikes stolen in the hope that they can say "I told you so"....

OmarLittle, excuse me, but what exactly are you talking about? Where and when have I jumped on anyone and told them*** I told you so***? I don't take part in the Stolen Bikes thread, except either long ago, or extremely rarely. My interest in this is to otherwise advise others on locks in the Locks That Work thread. That advice is frequently updated, as new situations come to light. If the lock he used was deficient in any way, I would post it in that thread.

I made no attempt to ridicule or put down butter, but only sought to establish exactly how his lock/locking method was defeated.

In fact, I had believed that when butter said he used the Kryptonite New York Lock, he'd meant the the 16mm U-Lock, but I have since found out that this name also applies to Kryptonite's series of chains.

butter locked his bike up in the best method possible....this is very clear. However it was the thickness of the lock or the chain that provided the vulnerabilities. That said, I know of one person on this forum that had their bike stolen when locked with the best lock there is, the Fahg Mini. But it was in a secluded place, and the thieves had hours to work on the lock, undisturbed.

No lock is unbreakable, but I only hoped to learn more, so as to amend the Locks That Work thread, if necessary.
