  • Have you considered Baum?

  • i would like a Baum.

  • Ive heard Baum are pretty good, you should have a look at them

  • 'my easily led mind'...............i found out thru experience not being 'led'......if you can feel no difference, fine. i do. fact.

  • Internet bullshit ^^^ right here.

Has anyone mentioned Baum yet btw?

  • just about anyone can feel the difference between large oversize steel tubes and small O/D 531 stovepipe.
the 'other manufacturers like Reynolds make both. Reynolds don't have a monopoly on small diameter butted tubes.
to dismiss columbus (or others) because you didn't like a bike built from oversize max/eom-16/spirit and liked a bike because of it's smaller O/D tubes that happens to be Reynolds is just ignorance, nobody can tell the difference if the tubes are identical in dimensions but different manufacturers steels.
taking your point of a view a Roberts built form his usual mis-match of tube manufacturers (chosen because he picks tubes on dimensions suited to the rider/intended use) is wrong and a better frame would result if only reynolds tubes are used. i wonder what he would say to that?

like refusing to eat real spagetti Bolognese when in italy because you tried a tin of Heinz spagetti once and didn't like it.

    you forgot the word 'spurious'

    and as for Baum?

"For each Espresso, we draw from a selection of Dedacciai, Reynolds and Columbus tubing. Exactly which blend we choose for your Espresso depends on you. The constants in the equation are an exhaustive approach to engineering, deft construction and high end steel. The cost of mass fabrication may have driven steel out of favor with factory builders, but its material qualities remain perfectly suited to building amazingly spirited, high performance bicycles."

"The Ristretto tubeset is selected to meet your specific requirements from the top-most shelves of the original and lasting names in steel: Reynolds, Dedacciai and Columbus. Engineered to within an inch of its life, the "*

*"*Custom blended Columbus, Reynolds and Dedacciai premium tubeset"

so whatever ride feel you want the builder (who knows more about building frames than you or I) will pick a tube on dimensions and butting to get the frame right for you. who drew and butted the tube is irrelevant as long as it does the job.
you can't have a reynolds sticker unless the 3 main tubes are made by them so a Baum can't have the sticker or the magic properties it gives.

  • Damn Baum. Now I want one, need one in fact. I'm saving now so when I return to the land oz I can get a Ti XC hardtail made.

Forget the burrito I was going to have for lunch, need something cheaper.

  • Oh yeah, I forgot about this lot:
